I also play through a section of it myself. The printed fingerings are very good, but there are so many variations that I pencil in for my students and myself. Oh, I highly recommend memorizing the 3 octave scales and arpeggios when you get to that last section.

Good book, good print, pretty much what I expected
So if you're getting Hrimaly I'm assuming you know what you're getting into. It's a collection of scales for violin practice. But if I want to talk about the product, this is a good and clear print. The notes are the perfect size and I can see them easily. The condition of the book was also completely new and pristine.

Classic Scale System
This classic scale system is very through and well laced out. Many sections with emphasis on a particular technical issue. All the scales and arpeggios are covered from C major to 7 flats and 7 sharps, both major and melodic minor forms. I use this with my students from the youngest through high school. I also play through a section of it myself. The printed fingerings are very good, but there are so many variations that I pencil in for my students and myself. Oh, I highly recommend memorizing the 3 octave scales and arpeggios when you get to that last section.

This iscsn excellent book good for early starter players
Lots of scale workouts. You have to pay attention to the prescribed finger placement to get full advantage of these workouts. And workouts they are. This iscsn excellent book good for early starter players, but also vibrant for maintaining articulation all through one's life. I think Paganini could have found benefit, even at his primo expert level.

Really Helped My Daughter Learn
My daughter/s violin teacher recommended this book to help her improve. Was very challenging at first for her, but as she practiced she began to master these. With each piece she had "down," her confidence increased. Was so wonderful to see her smile as she developed as a violinist. Recommend this book for the young violinist in your life!

Not easy!!
But do you expect a book called scale studies to be easy? This book is a classic and a must for any serious violinist. Absolutely worth the purchase!

Excellent for beginners and intermediate players
the book itself is a good quality print. I had the same book when I was taking lessons as a little boy. Now an adult and I find myself getting back into violin so i picked up this classic. Not disappointed at all.

No stress scale system for violinists
If ABRSM scale exambook did not exist, this is the scale book that I would use for intelligent preparation of scales. But the pressure for young violinist's (parents) needing fast exam results asap for chasing bursaries, scholarships and coveted school places etc. means that it's a constant slog through endless exam syllabus, with no time to work through this excellent scale preparation book....highly recommend if under no pressure to drag your students through the perennial exam hysteria.

Great Scale book to grow with.
I use this book with one of my violin teachers and she guides me through each scale and suggests variations.
