Suzuki lesson books are the best.
Bought for my 8yo daughter. She began this book3 after 11 months of learning to play the cello. I like how this book series keep revisiting some of the same pieces; each time they teach the same piece with a different focus and emphasis as the player/learner deepens the understanding of music and improves his/her playing ability. Lastly, although it only applies to me, as a parent who grew up in Japan, many pieces in the Suzuki string books are near and dear to my heart. I simply love listening to my kids (the other daughter grew up on Suzuki violin books) learning these books.

Great book!
I was looking for something a little more difficult from volume 2. Lo and behold, I stumbled upon volume 3! This fit the bill perfectly. Oh and my private lessons teacher asked me to buy it.

Buy the companion CD too!
The book on its own is just more sheet music, much of it available online for free. BUT...with the companion CD...magic. A wonderful system (I use the books & CDs on my own as adjunct to my regular lessons). These are helping me to improve more and quicker than I otherwise would (comparing myself before and after using these books and CDs.). Try Book and CD 1 and see what you think. I came back for more. EDIT / UPDATE: I have decided that the Suzuki CDs, for most pieces, are too fast for someone who is learning to play. If you can re-record and play back with a slower-downer app, that would be good. In lieu of that, there are a couple of cello teachers who have recorded the pieces slightly slower, or even lessons on the pieces, on youtube.

This is such a fun book!
🎵 I have my old Suzuki books, but in the 90’s these were revised and they made the international edition. 🎶 I included a picture that compares the size -the books are now physically larger (making it easier for my child to read the music) There are awesome position etudes, trill drills and some scales. 🎶 🎵 But for me, the best part is they added La Cinquantaine!!! It is such a beautiful piece and so fun to play. The sheet music for this piece alone cost almost double the price of this whole book.
