These were GREAT. NO FLIES ON THE FOOD.
A fun fact about flies. Did you know that when flies land on food, they barf on it and then slurp the liquefied waste up? Also, flies are obviously attracted to feces and they carry all sorts of nasty germs on their hairy little bodies. So, maybe one goes on there. Well, that's not too bad. But multiple flies can mean a majorly upset stomach. So, to get back to my product review: We just got done with hosting our annual block party Fourth of July party at our house and I had HAD IT with the flies. Last year and the prior years (this is our fourth), it's been Fly-mageddon. I mean those little bastards are all over the food. It's a total waste of money, because who wants to eat flyblown food? Not only that, but all of the food has to be tossed out afterwards. This year: NO FLIES. Seriously. They tried and they tried, they crawled all over the netting to get at the food, they went to the bottom rim and they couldn't find their way in. Everyone marveled at the simplicity of these awesome covers. The transparency was great. People could tell what was inside, and if they couldn't, they could easily lift the top and take a quick peek. And we had all sorts of dishes: Big ones for hamburgers, chicken, hot dogs, shrimp (the flies REALLY wanted in on that one), pie dishes. These fit every single dish. I bought two sets and they were plenty for a small potluck BBQ party with 25 guests. All the while, as I was chatting w/guests, I was watching the food like a hawk, just waiting for one to get in. It was oddly and totally satisfying to see the little pests trying to make contact with the food and failing. I was maybe a little too "into" it, as you can tell, but if you're kind of a germ-aphobe in any way, you will totally appreciate these. After the BBQ I compacted them and put them in a bag. It was so funny: people were saying, "WOW, THAT'S COOL". Maybe we ALL need to get out more LOLSo these get an HONEST five stars. So just make sure, as another reviewer stated, to have space where people can place these. Because guests sometimes don't think about what they're doing and they put them on haphazardly or they don't replace them at all. So you might have to make sure that they go back on, with the bottom of the cover touching the table all the way around. They can't be hanging off the table or on a dish or bowl that's too big or the flies WILL get in.There was no problem with a light breeze either. I didn't have to weigh these down. Great product. So happy that I found something to "outwit" the flies. FINALLY. What a relief!!!

Bigger than I thought, but great
These are bigger than I expected - of course if I'd paid attention to the product details I would have known. They are 3 sizes, the biggest being large enough to put over a good sized serving dish or a small platter, the smallest about right for a dinner plate. They are tall enough to accommodate larger items, like a baked chicken or a cake. In addition to using them to protect items from bugs on a picnic table or buffet, they would also be useful beside the grill to keep flies off the plate and utensils. One piece of advice - they arrive in a flat plastic bag - I recommend keeping that bag for storage. This will keep them clean, and also help them store flat in your cabinet. The covers have an elastic band intended to go around and keep them flat for storage, but other reviewers have said that the bands aren't very sturdy, so keeping the bag will help overcome that.

These are very nice
We had a terrible problem with fruit flies last summer and are trying to head them off this year. We have some very old food covers, but they're bent out of shape and pinch your fingers when you close them. I knew there had to be something better and after some poking around online, found these. I'd rather have had metal mesh ones, but the company that sold the only one I liked didn't respond to my emails asking for dimensions. So I found these and I think they'll work really well. They're attractive, come in 3 generous sizes and sit nice and flat. There's an elastic loop that holds them down when not in use, My only concern is that they're a little fragile, as any nylon mesh stretched over wire is apt to be. If they get squashed and the wires get bent, they won't be so effective. So in short - perfect except for some fragility.

but they look like they'll keep everything but fruit flies off the food
UPDATE: I have been using these now to cover up garden produce on the counter, and as others have written but I didn't believe, they really do keep the fruit flies off the food! These covers hit the trifecta for great product: inexpensive, easy to use, and effective.I just received these so haven't had much experience with them yet, but they look like they'll keep everything but fruit flies off the food. (Nothing but a sealed container or refrigeration keeps out fruit flies, so if that's the reason you're thinking of buying these food covers, abandon hope and put out a vinegar trap.) I like the ease with which they open and close -- an elastic band just slips off and on the rim of the collapsed cover. The price is right, and the 3 sizes look like they'll be useful.

VERY practical
These are a great invention. I don't like covering pies with glass or plastic when kept on counter because it makes the food soggy. But these allow air to circulate and keep pies crisper while keeping any gnats or flies off the food. Perfect. My teenage grandson even asked if he could have one of the 3 covers when he saw mine. They're very easy to store too...take up hardly any space. One of the best purchases I've made.

Useful product with a few issues
While I haven't actually used these yet, they are a nice large size and will cover my dishes. They also collapse for storage. I have a couple of issues with these covers, though. One of the three arrived with a broken plastic disc on the top. Also they had this smell of things that sometimes are shipped from a foreign country. I left them outside for a day and the smell is pretty much gone. The company contacted me by email to ask if I was happy with the items and I replied about the disc and smell. They asked for a picture of the disc and I sent one. They offered me a 5% reduction. This was pretty funny as I would receive about 70 cents which was hardly worth my time in replying to them. I replied that it really wasn't enough and I did not hear back.Even with the above, I think that this will be a useful product especially during spring and summer bug time.
