Thank you for your inquiry. Add up the power each of your devices consumes(you should find the information on the back of the device), it works as long as the total load of your appliances less than the rated 2500 watt of the extension tower.

Q: Why are the sockets sideways not good if you have a fresh air plug that must be upright!!

They put them side ways so they can fit more plugs on either side and gives adequate space between each plus making them easier to unplug or plug in

No, there aren't any holes in the base to enable fixing to a desk
