Beautifully designed and compact emergency battery device
Kudos to Clore for this engineering marvel! Amazon got this to me in 2 days with free standard shipping, ahead of my other small items. (clap, clap for Amazon & Clore). You can't appreciate the engineering by the pictures. It's awesome! I charged it up even though the status lights showed 3 of 4 bars. (Others have said you never see 4 bars even after 24 hrs of charging and that seems to be the case here). I used it to top off a tire that had lost a little pressure (had to find something to use it for!). The 15 amp compressor operated just fine although the manual says the JNC300XL is designed for 12 A. or less. I guess it's a matter of how low that battery is stressed by the compressor and how warm it gets before the JNC300 unit triggers the automatic breaker. Time will tell. I haven't used it for any dead batteries as yet. The cables are solid #4 guage. The clamps are the super-monster variety. Word of caution - the clamps are "hot", no on/off switch like the light/lighter connector. The cables are short to avoid any voltage drop and get the maximum boost for your vehicle's battery resuscitation. (Don't try this in lieu of a defibrillator, folks!). The compact form in the box with the supplied AC charger fits nicely in the rear of my 4-cyl SUV. We will also use it on longer trips in our V-8 and that would be the acid test since several user reviewers have stated it won't start a V-8 with a dead 12-Volt battery. Others have started diesel engines. Go figure. Location, outside temp, quality of battery, condition of battery (dried up electrolyte solution), condition of vehicle battery clamps, location of jumper clamps all affect the performance of these jumpers. My main used with be to keep tire pressures optimal. It'll save a few bucks buying 15 amp fuses for my vehicles even using the power accessory outlets (vs cigarette lighter outlets, apparently). Clore even offers to send you an email reminder to charge the unit after 3 mos when you register with their reminder service. Manual included with instructions or you can read/download at their website. All-in-all I'm impressed with this little beauty and with Amazon's service, as always. Too bad Amazon won't become a cabinet-level consultant with input on running the country! LOL!Addendum: 2/18/2015A few months ago when I was out and about my wife called me to inform me that her car wouldn't start. The 4+ yr old battery apparently had a dead cell or two. I returned home and with a smile on my face and promptly connected my Clore JNC300XL to the dead battery. When I turned the ignition on the ol' 8-cyl luxury car fired right up. Worked like a charm. Air temp was not cold and car was sitting in the unheated garage. I drove the car to the dealer and had the aged battery replaced with a new one with no towing requirements, delays or inconveniences. Whether the jumper will work in sub-freezing temps has yet to be tested. I've been diligent about topping off the Clore jumper every 1-2 months (with friendly email reminders and updates from Clore) and it sits ready and waiting for duty in my SUV. Excellent product, excellent company and I highly recommend the JNC300XL for your basic needs.

Amazing - used 6 times in 6 months without recharging!
This product is amazing. My two friends are going to buy one for themselves because they were so impressed.I purchased this jumper initially because I have a summer convertible, and since moving to Pennsylvania, I don't drive it year-round. I didn't know what to do to "store" my car; I just kept it in the garage intending to find out what to do, but then winter was over.I was expecting to need to jump this car (2006 Honda S2000) multiple times since I just didn't drive it all the time. (I know, this isn't a good long term plan) This product works exactly as expected, I jumped my car just fine, and drove it to the mall. Since the unit is so small, I just kept it in my trunk so I could re-jump if I needed to. I ended up jumping my car a few other times after it was sitting a while.Well, my roommate's car just recently started acting up and it wouldn't start (it was at work). She had previously borrowed my jumper, and knew I had it, so she borrowed it again, it jumped her car just fine. She had a guy at work help her, and he was really impressed with the ease of use and portability. He later asked me where I got it (to which I replied Amazon!) and he said he was going to get one himself. My roommate also ordered one to keep in her car.Now the best part - I had only charged the unit initially. That's right...I estimate that it jumped a car 6 times on one charge, and it doesn't show any indication of a low battery! (I just now plugged it in to charge for good measure, I know it can't last forever). The span of charge lasted over 6 months. It has been bouncing around in the trunk of my convertible during the summer, and in my garage during the cold Pennsylvania winters. This thing is amazing.I like that it has a built in light that could be used if you're trying to jump in the dark, it's cute, portable, light weight, and extremely convenient. Here on Amazon it costs less than 1 call to AAA. Great product.

JNC330XL NOT POWERFUL ENOUGHT to JUMPSTART A 4 CYLINDER VEHICLE
The front page instructions that come in the box advise to charge this jump starter 12 hours as soon as you take it out of the box. I did so. When I tried to jump start my 4 cylinder ford the dash lights came on for just one second then turned off when I turned the ignition. What did I do wrong? I cleaned the battery terminals thinking the clamps were not connecting properly and I did more online research and found another set of online instructions of which the front page instructed to charge the jumper for "24" hours as soon as you take the JNC300XL out of the box. I recharged the jump starter for 24 hours. When I tried to jump start my 4 cylinder ford again with JNC300XL there continues to be absolutely no activity when I turn on the ignition -- no sign of life coming from the battery. The battery shows that it has a full charge.... So, I did some specific research thru Amazon reviews on this jump starter model JNC300XL and found other reviews that this jump starter doesn't have enough power to start up a 4 cylinder despite the manufacturing claim thru various websites. I came to the same conclusion as other Amazon reviewers that this battery does not have enough power to start up a 4 cylinder. There are thousands of reviews on Amazon saying how powerful " the jump starter" is but the reviews in most part don't tell you which model they are talking about. The same reviews and ratings show up no matter which jumper model you click on. -- I was misinformed. I spent over $60 for the JNC300xl --- it doesn't work as advertised -- it can't be sent back for refund and I don't have any small appliances to test it out on to see if it works at all. Guess I have to take it to a battery recycler cuz I just don't feel confident selling it to someone. DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY ON THIS ONE.

Great unit with a proper focus on starting vehicles and not compromised by cellphone/tablet nonsense
The unit is of excellent quality, much lighter than one would expect of a battery capable of 900 Amps, and with a very good design to keep it compact and stow the cables safely (no contact with each other). Was surprised (pleasantly) that it arrived charged! Unlike units from other companies I researched this unit is focused on a single task - starting vehicles. If I want multiple USB charging options (or other nonsense) I'll plug into the USB ports in my car once it's running - or drive my car back home or wherever and plug into the wall/computer there. The point being - getting my vehicle started is the primary reason for acquiring a device like this. I'm reluctantly knocking off 1 star only because the clamps are of the "stubby" variety (think short nose) and double sided. With the space constraints so common under the hood of today's cars manufacturers have crammed batteries into spaces that can make it very difficult to get the clamp properly secured. The positive post on my 2005 Acura RL is tucked up against a high plastic shroud AND has a fusebox directly hanging off it (thanks Acura!) and I couldn't get a good purchase on it with the Clore clamp. I remedied this by daisy chaining via a good set of jumpers I own that have long, needle-nose style single sided clamps (and copper as well, Clore's seem to be steel). (As a precautionary note should somebody need to do this I'd recommend doubling the negative clamps on the jumpers back onto the cables so as to minimize the chance of an accidental short). If Clore were to change out the clamp style to a needle-nose single sided style (ideally in copper, but that would no doubt raise the cost) I'd easily give this a 5th star. As it is I'm still very happy with it and keep it in my trunk. An added benefit of this unit (and others of this style) is if you are called upon to jump someone else you don't have to jockey your vehicle, or risk its electonics, and can instead just carry this to their vehicle and easily get them started. I'd recommend this unit (and in fact a friend has already purchased one) to anyone.

It always works
Had this jump starter for 10 years. Battery finally won't take a charge. So I bit the bullet and bought a new one. Got my money's worth. Also, reasonable price for an excellent jump starter. This jump starter worked on any car I tried it on. Did not try it on trucks. Relatively portable (stays in my suv's trunk). Relatively light weight. Works in cold weather. Cables are sturdy and long. Clamps are big boys. For 10 years, I got emails every 3 months from Clore reminding me to charge the jump starter. Could not ask for a better jump starter for cars. I contemplated buying a very small lithium jump starter. Looked impressive. But when I digged for the details I decided against buying one. Lithium not good in cold weather. Not good in hot weather either. Worst of all, the lithium battery can catch on fire. The Clore jump starter has a sealed lead acid battery that has none of these problem. Also, the lithium jump starters can be pricey. Bottom line, I'm staying with the tried and true Clore jump starter.
