A One-Year Wonder
I needed a powered cookie press since carpal tunnel problems made it hard for me to use my old faithful manual press. I bought this cookie press last year and loved it. It worked beautifully. So naturally I planned to use it again this year. I charged it up for a good 24 hours and mixed my first batch of dough--a recipe I used last year with the same press. I could hear the motor desperately straining but the dough never budged. I removed the dough, thinned it out, and tried again, and again, same result. Only when I loaded the press with about 1/4 cup of extremely soft and mushy dough would it form a cookie. However, the dough was so soft that it wouldn't hold its shape. The dough in question is in the oven now being baked as a bar cookie, and the VillaWare is on its way to the trash. Moral: don't buy the VillaWare unless you're willing to spring for a replacement next year. It's a waste of money if you're looking for a product that lasts.

Cookie Press Disaster
I ordered the VillaWare Cookie Press for 1. I had a power corded press which was great, was lost in a fire. This press was re-chargable, and made by a manufacture who's products had been in my family for several generations. I follwed the directions exactly for making Spritz Cookies, during the third tube full of dough the press began to malfunction and not operate as stated in the owners manual. The instruction book said the press would do about 800 cookies, and to charge the press for 24 hours. I tried plugging it in and the plunger would just spin and not push any dough down. The plunger would not push any dough down through the barrel and the motor sounded funny. I took the press apart and found marks on the plastic plunger that rotated to push the dough down the barrel. I returned the press, and purchased one with a trigger handle that is all stainless steel.

cookie press
Works for me because I have arthritis in my hands and couldn't use my manual one anymore. However it is a lot slower and more time consuming.

Great press; Fault tube
The cookie press is excellent. It holds the charge well and will press several dozen cookies in one charge. The one problem we've had is that the plastic tube which the holds the dough has cracked. And, we have not found a replacement source.

Cheese Straw Queen
I bought this cookie press to make Grandma's Famous Cheese Straws. I had never used one before and it was like Goldilocks and the porridge at my house. The first batch was too hard, the second was too soft, and then the third batch was just right. The consistency of the dough is very important. When I got that right, my cheese straws looked perfect. I took them to a Superbowl party and they were a big success! My friends couldn't imagine that I really made them (I don't cook!) The press was very easy to use and clean.

VillaWare cookie press-a disappointment
I purchased this cookie press after my Wearever Super Shooter quit after 22 years. I wanted a cookie press with a plug. I did not want to deal with batteries. This cookie press can be battery operated or it has the option to use the plug. I was highly disappointed with the power in the press. It took me more than 3 hours to do what I did with my old press in one hour. I do use this with a thicher dough, but my old cookie press had no trouble at all with the thickness. I packed the VillaWare Cookie Press up and mailed it back. I bought a used Wearever Super Shooter on E-Bay. I would not recommend this cookie press unless you are working with a very pliable cookie dough.
