Review: Surprisingly Essential - This LCD Battery Charger has become one of the most practical and reliable tools in our household. It’s no exaggeration to call this a must-have item for anyone with multiple battery-powered devices, especially those looking to reduce waste, save money over time, and maximise the life of their rechargeable batteries. This 12-slot model with LCD display has replaced a clutter of older, slower chargers I previously used. It's compact, efficient, and performs consistently across a wide variety of batteries. The first thing that impressed me was its flexibility. The charger supports both AA and AAA NiMH rechargeable batteries, and you don’t have to charge in pairs. Every slot operates independently, so you can charge one battery or a full set of twelve without worrying about imbalance or overloading. I tested it with standard 1300mAh AAA and high-capacity 2800mAh AA batteries, including older rechargeables from other brands like Eneloop, desertcartBasics, and Duracell, and everything worked flawlessly. The LCD display clearly shows the charge status for each battery, which has saved me a lot of second-guessing and helps avoid overcharging. One feature I particularly appreciate is the dual input with USB-C and micro USB. I’ve used it with a 5V/2A adapter, a laptop USB port in a pinch, and even a power bank during travel. The manufacturer warns against using both ports at once (important to note), but having both available adds real convenience. It's a smart touch for modern households, especially now that USB-C is becoming the standard. Just make sure you use a strong enough power supply — a weak 1A plug won't cut it when all 12 slots are loaded. What sets this charger apart from others I’ve tried is how well it handles real-world charging situations. I use rechargeable batteries in so many devices: 1) wireless mice, 2) wireless keyboards, 3) TV remote controls, 4) LED headlamps, 5) children’s toys, 6) motion sensor lights, 7) torches, 8) wireless doorbells, 9) kitchen scales, 10) electric pepper grinders, 11) digital thermometers, 12) bathroom scales, 13) wall clocks, 14) handheld milk frothers, and most importantly recently, 15) underfloor heating remote controls. This last one alone has made the charger indispensable. As we recently moved to a larger home with zoned underfloor heating, we now have multiple battery-operated wall thermostats and remote sensors for temperature and humidity. These drain batteries constantly. Instead of relying on disposable batteries, I now rotate multiple sets of AAA rechargeables, charging them with the HiQuick as part of our household routine. It’s an efficient system, and I’ve seen no performance drop in the devices since switching to rechargeable power. That speaks volumes about both the batteries and the charger. Another concern users sometimes raise is battery lifespan. To prolong the life of your NiMH batteries, avoid overcharging or charging when unnecessary. The HiQuick charger helps with this because of its intelligent MCU control and -delta V detection. Once a battery reaches full charge, it switches to trickle mode, maintaining the battery gently rather than overcooking it. I’ve also learned to avoid mixing old and new batteries in the same charge cycle and to store batteries at about 50% if they’re not in use for long periods. Simple habits like this go a long way. A quick note on brands: I’ve tested it with HiQuick's own 2800mAh AA and 1100mAh AAA cells, and they do pair very well with the charger. Charging is fast, consistent, and predictable. But I also use it regularly with third-party batteries, including desertcartBasics and Panasonic Eneloop, without issues. It's not brand-locked, which makes it ideal for households that already have a mix of rechargeable cells. Regarding build quality, the unit is surprisingly lightweight, but it doesn’t feel flimsy. The battery slots grip firmly without being too tight, and the buttons and screen are responsive. It fits easily into a kitchen drawer or sits quietly on a desk without being intrusive. Because it's fanless and passively cooled, it runs silently — something I greatly appreciate when working or relaxing nearby. There's no hum, buzz, or annoying flicker. If I were to nitpick, it’s that the LCD doesn’t auto-dim or switch off, so if you're charging overnight in a bedroom, you may notice the backlight. I solved this with a simple piece of tape, but a dimmer or timeout function would be welcome. Also, it doesn’t charge C or D cells, but that’s clearly stated in the description and expected for the size. For AA and AAA, it’s spot-on. In terms of safety, I’ve had zero issues — no overheating, no failed charges, no battery leakage. The charger detects faulty cells and displays 'ERR' on screen, which has helped me identify and recycle a few old batteries that no longer held charge. That kind of feedback loop is extremely helpful and something basic chargers lack. This charger has fundamentally changed how I use batteries in the home. Gone are the days of reaching for a pack of disposables or hunting for a charged battery last minute. I now have a small tray system where spent batteries go into a queue, and the HiQuick handles the rest. With the rise of remote devices in modern homes — especially smart devices, environmental monitors, and wireless controls — investing in a charger like this pays for itself many times over. It’s not just an accessory; it’s part of an efficient, eco-conscious system. All in all, I’d call the HiQuick LCD Battery Charger a quietly brilliant product. It doesn’t scream for attention, but it delivers consistent, high-performance charging for all your AA and AAA needs. It’s smart, safe, compact, and incredibly practical. Whether you’re a parent, a tech enthusiast, a smart home user, or just someone fed up with wasting money on disposable batteries, this belongs in your home. It’s not just a charger — it’s a smarter way to power your life.
Review: Does the job. - I bought this for my first serious go at using rechargeables and I’m quite impressed. I use a 5v 3a PD USB type C power supply I use for something also and it seems adequate. It charged 12 AA batteries (new but not full) fairly quickly and they seem ok. I’ve also charged 2 old AAA batteries I rescued from somewhere and had in a box for ages, they seem to have been revived. I like the fact it is compact and has a decent display giving feedback on the process and quite happy it works for both types of battery. Overall this has been a good buy for me and I would recommend it so far.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Bigger and better!
*by M***R on 26 November 2025*

Well made and easy to use, this is just the thing if you have multiple batteries to charge (it’s amazing how many household items still use double and triple A batteries!). I already had the smaller version, but this is better still and seems to charge faster - and being that much larger it’s also less easy to mislay!
