Saved the day!
We recently got a piggy. The woman who had him didn’t have any more pigs, just the one, so he was a lone pig. We got him home, he did great, he was sweet as heck, great tiller, all was well. We had made him a shelter outside, but it was warm and he didn’t seem interested in it. About a week into him living with us and we had a freak cold weather snap. It got down to the 30’s and little piggy was FREEZING! He was shivering and refused to go into the shelter we had, and there were no other piggies for him to lay with and keep warm with. ☹️ I ended up dragging the electric blanket from my own bed as well as U-haul moving blankets to cover this piggy. I stayed in his pen and I rubbed his body covered in blankets and warmed him up and petted him and made sure he knew he was a sweet and wonderful little pig. Once his shivering subsided and he was warm, I went inside and I immediately started looking for an alternative that wasn’t an electric blanket that was going to get sopping wet with mud and dew. I came across this and just bought it. It does work, though he doesn’t really like it. He did use it for a few nights but he prefers to wrap himself in u-haul moving blankets in a pile of straw. I guess I spoiled him with blankets and affection he’s never had before in his previous life and that’s what he likes best now. We actually ended up moving him to have access to a barn stall instead of the shelter we built (he’s spoiled, I mentioned that right?), we put him in the pasture with our cow. Our cow’s sister-friend cow was struck by lightning and she was all alone. Piggy was all alone. They became instant friends! Our cow gets on her knees and he cleans the burrs off her face and body. They snuggle in the barn stall together every night. They get zoomies in the pasture together, they graze together. So, yes, this works, and it’s great because the cord (totally the chewable part) is covered in protective metal rings to prevent chewing, which it does, and it’s really nice to have. The cord is decent length, too. We keep the mat on and in the barn stall, it’s there whenever they want it. I am sure we will have used for it in the future, I don’t regret buying it.

Provides gentle heat
Purchased this for my dog. She refuses to go inside her doghouse during bad or cold weather. I started by placing this heating pad inside her house under a mat. During subfreezing weather conditions, I measured the inside of her house around 55-60f. She still wouldn't use her house. I moved the heating pad outside her house on the ground. The surface of the mat was only about 10f warmer than the outside air, but she would use it.

Sulcata Heaven
Even in SoCal, tortoises get cold in the winter or when it is wet. This pad is ideal for his insulated "doghouse" where he has room to sit on it when he wants more warmth, or get off when warm enough. He does not need a flexible fluffy blanket, as he is an armor plated reptile; so a flat hard mat is perfect. There is some confusion in other reviews who think it senses contact to warm up. Not so: The heat is on all the time, but is so spread out that you only notice it when trapped under a pillow. It does not sense the pillow then start heating. The animal will notice it and be that pillow. The metal coil spring around the power cord is enough to stop chew damage. I have compressed mine a bit to favor the pad end, as initially there is a gap in protection. The plug end is outside the enclosure, so there is no hazard if a bit of cable shows on that end. Great design.

Not warm enough
This barely gets warm enough to keep ice from forming in a water bucket and only gets warm on one corner of the mat. I bought it to also be a mat warmer for our outside animals and isn’t capable of doing that.

Keeps dog warm in his house
Works. We ran it for a day in a clear area on concrete just to make sure it didn’t burst into flames. Then put in an igloo dog house with a blanket on top if it. He loves it.I would recommend keeping it off the ground as we did with the plastic base of the igloo. Just incase water comes along the thing is far from water proof.Even thought it only draws 40 watts I put it on a timer to run at night only. No point it wasting energy ir $$$

The pets seem to love it.
Mine works. Was worried it might not after reading some of the reviews. Our outside pets sleep on it when the temp fall. I would like to put some type of cushion on it for the pets, but I think any cushion of substance would reduce the ability to provide warmth substantially.

Keeps the feeding shed warm
Purchased this for our community cat feeding shed. I can feel the temperature difference when I open the shed to clean it and replace food and water. My only hmmmm is I thought this was supposed to be weight activated...it seems to be on all the time. I specifically purchased this so not to waste electricity during those times when the shed did not have an animal in it.

Keeping outdoor animals warm at night
We live in GA, so it does not get super cold here. Still, I wanted something for our outdoor pet. He is a bit destructive, so it needed to be durable and such. This fit the bill.He has been using the mat for about a month. As I plug it in and adjust it, I find myself on it a bit as well. Under my knee, I feel like I need to be careful and not put too much weight, it bows a slight bit. Still, for my large outdoor pet, there has been no damage. He has not damaged it with his mouth, feet, or claws. It hasn't burned down the barn. I know it works because I can feel the warmth on him when I get him up in the mornings.

Dogs love their warm bed.
Canadian winters are cold, but dogs are warm. Appreciate the fact that the heat is only activated by the weight of the dogs.

Goats like it
Goats and chickens have found It warm. Wish it was bigger, bought the largest size.Purchased in December and we have had some cold days and last week the goats were on it and it cracked. Not impressed, tried plugging it in again and it wouldn’t even warm up. Thought I could tape it but it’s toast! Too expensive to warm up hoaves for 2 months.
