Kryptonite HardWire Bicycle Key Cable Bike Lock

This is a great lock and I will tell you it is a little heavy. You make the choice.....Use it or loose it.The one thing I will mention to help you is use a little 3 in one oil in the lock (only one or two drops with the key all the way in the lock)and it will make using it easier. Sad to say security is most important with your bike and for peace of mind. You should also consider using the Kryptonite New York Fahgettaboutit U-lock for the best in bike security, It is Guarantied to work.The combination is so you can use the 2018 Hardwire to loop through frame and both wheels and the U-lock.I have the U-lock attached to the frame of my bike with( 8351D Master Lock Smart Bracket for Bike Locks) and the 2018 hardwire I just put in my back pack.I Love It! Peace of mind!

UPDATE: After two months of use, the lock mechanism now works much smoother. If one can be patient during the "break-in" period, the lock works great.I read many reviews of Kryptonite key locks and I was skeptical about those that complained of sticking keys. Well, count me in as one that says that these locks suck. I've had this lock for a few weeks and today was the day that my lock almost would not unlock. I had put lubricant in it last week, but it quickly became sticky. Trust me, the key function in this lock is poor. I wanted this to be a good lock, but it will be difficult for me to use this lock if I must apply graphite grease every week. Save yourself the headache that I have and find something else. I am so disappointed.

I have trouble getting it unlocked.It also is like trying to handle a python.Heavy and it doesn’t like to be uncoiled.I bought a less expensive one; I don’t use this anymore.

The lock is very difficult to unlock. Worked fine the first three times. The last time, before I returned it to Amazon (thanks again for your great return policy), it took me 5 minutes fiddling around trying to getting the key to go all the way into the lock so it would work. The directions say not to "force" the key. Well, the only way I could get the key all the way into the lock was to force it. Too bad: I have three other, much older Kryptonite key cables with different locking mechanisms than this one and they have worked fine for years.

I use this cable to lock my wife's and mine e-bikes. Extremely stout devise, takes a bit of effort to manipulate it around the bikes and through racks. Not very light but worth the protection it affords you.

After my spare tire was stolen from underneath my SUV I used this cable to secure the replacement. Because I live in Chicago and Michigan I wrapped a decent amount of duct tape around the keyhole and the surrounding shroud with the hope that this would keep salt and other road dirt out - it didn't. Salt (or something) built up in the keyhole preventing me from inserting the key. I tried lubricating grease but it did not do anything for what had built up in the keyhole. I subsequently cut the cable using 24" Home Depot bolt cutters. I completely cut through the cable after 3 full squeezes of the bolt cutters.My application was probably not standard for this lock so take what you will from my experience...

A friend already has one. Has had it messed with several times. While the cosmetic plastics are no longer on the lock, the functionary parts are still working and continues to secure what it is used for. Recommended.Its only real con is the key does take a bit to get it into the lock. To me, this means that picking it will be difficult at minimum and impossible at max.

A great, hefty cable lock with toothed keys, long enough to actually secure the bike to a stationary object. A very nice deterent that will leave most thieves looking for an easier target.

Hatte das Schloss für einige Wochen an wenigen Tagen in Benutzung. Schließlich blockierte der Schließzylinder, sodass das Schloss per Winkelschleifer geöffnet werden musste. Eigentlicher Kaufgrund war der sehr gute Preis, jedoch lohnt sich bei dieser Haltbarkeit nahezu kein Preis....

prodotto ottimo ... molto più grosso e pesante di come me lo aspettavo ... la foto non rende l'idea .. perfetto per la mia ebike fat, per le altre forse un po troppo grosso. Lo uso anche per la moto.

Utilisé avec mon vélo. Le cadenas répond bien à mes besoins.

Ho comprato questo antifurto perché ne avevo uno dello stesso tipo ormai da cambiare, e assolutamente ne volevo uno uguale. Il fatto che sia lungo 180 é fantastico, permette di legare la moto ovunque in modo rapido. Essendo ricoperto non sbatte come le normali catene. La serratura gira bene, anche se, come accortezza, per girare la chiave senza sforzo l'attacco del cavo deve essere dritto e senza tensione.
