Verilux HappyLight Touch Plus Light Therapy Lamp, 10,000 Lux, UV-Free LED

I love my HappyLight! I didn't have a lot of space and I'd never used a "SAD light" before, so I wanted something economical and on the smaller side. This is perfect! It's basically the size of a tablet, and the stand detaches easily, making it super simple to take with me when I travel. I spent a few bucks more for the light with a timer function, three brightness levels, and a hue (warm or cool light) option. I'm glad I did, because I kind of eased into the full 10k lumens over the first few uses. I was influenced in part by all the reviewers saying they lived in the dark, rainy Pacific Northwest, so I will add that I do, too! I'm a morning person by nature, but was finding it really hard to WAKE UP on our dark winter mornings here in the PNW. Getting a later start was wrecking my entire day, and then wrecking my sleep at night. Now I get up early, make my coffee, and spend 30-40 minutes reading a book by my light, and I can't believe the positive ripple effects throughout the 24-hour day. Circadian rhythm restored!

I’ve only had this light for nine days, so nothing here can address its longevity. I will try to post a later review when I’ve had it for at least six months. But up to this point it exceeds my expectations. I have not had this one for long, but I have been using a light for SAD and for depression in general for over thirty years now. The science has come a long way and there are methodologies in place at this point in history that can help someone find what will work best for them. There are some general requirements for a SAD light that most notable sources all recommend. It should generate up to 10,000 Lux (a measurement of light intensity), the light given off should be UV-free (UV light can harm the eye) and the light should typically be white to be most effective. This light, like many, offers three brightness settings and two colors. It also has a timer to make keeping track of your session easy. It is a convenient size. My desk is a small one and the mug is a large one. The box is about 10 inches by 6 inches with the actual light being a bit smaller. I find it to be a very useful size. It doesn’t get in the way of whatever is typically on my desk but is certainly large enough to give off a very nice, wide light. I find the light to be simple and very user friendly. There isn’t much to figure out and there are instructions for what controls there are. This is a corded light, NOT one with a battery or battery pack. Has to be plugged in to work. This may not be the one if you are looking for a light you can take anywhere and use. It is portable (easy to pick up and move) but not cordless. The light seems to be well made and solid, doesn’t have a “cheap feel” to it. The removable cord is about six feet long, long enough to find a plug in most places but short enough to be readily wound up and tucked into a bag or folder. The stand pops off the back when needed so is also quickly ready to move or pack. I like this light and already have some sense of its effectiveness. The cost is reasonable for what you get. I have paid hundreds of dollars for a SAD light that I do not believe is as good as this one. We’ll see how it stands up over time. As I began, It’s Great So Far! One final note: consult a professional as to the use of this or any other SAD light. The time and technique recommended may vary. Be good to yourself and let your own light shine!

I bought this product a couple of months ago, and I must say, it’s incredibly bright. If you’re looking for a bright light source, this is the one for you. I believe the quality is good, but the biggest issue I’ve encountered is my inconsistency in using it. However, I firmly believe that if I were to use it daily, it would be beneficial. I used it for a few weeks every morning, but I’m not very good at being committed to waking up early every day and using it . That’s on me, but I did enjoy using it. I would wake up and turn it on immediately. When set to the highest brightness level, it’s extremely bright, which is exactly what I was looking for. I highly recommend this product. It’s a well-made quality product. The only thing I didn’t like was the stand, which keeps falling off. It doesn’t stay securely attached to the product. Also, it has a proprietary charging cord, so be careful with that. I recently discovered that you can hang it on a wall using a hook. I hung it up next to my computer for work, but sometimes it’s just too bright. Overall, I highly recommend this product if you have a place to put it, such as your office or your bedroom. If you’re working or need to wake up in the morning, I believe it’s a great product that will work well if you’re consistent with it. It has a timer and different brightness levels, including yellow and cool tones. It’s a push-button turn-on, not a timer, so you can’t set it to wake you up.

This works well and is light weight and is reasonably priced. I wish the stand worked a little better but good overall.

I have suffered with SAD for years, and decided to try light therapy after attending a local seminar on SAD. One of the attendees said to be sure to get something with 10,000 LUX. Since I seem to be light sensitive, I purchased the HappyLight® Touch Plus because I could adjust the brightness and the hue. I knew Verilux makes premium quality items and they stand behind their products. I was amazed at the difference the first time I used the HappyLight. I started with only 10 minutes. I am more energized - gone is the lethargy I fought every day, my mood is much happier and I sleep better. I wish I had purchased one of these years ago! The timer is a bit clumsy as you have to keep pressing the button to set it for the desired minutes and there are only indicator marks - no numbers - so I don't usually use the auto timer. I started with a softer hue and one of the lower lux settings, but easily worked up to the 10k lux and a whiter hue. I liked the fact that I could use lower settings to adjust to using the lamp. I wish it came with a longer power cord. It's only 6 feet long which means I have to sit next to an outlet and then it barely reaches because the lamp has to be more or less in front of me (off to the side). This is inconvenient. Otherwise I really like how it's helped me and I would recommend to anyone who has issues with sunlight deprivation depression.

I use this light every single morning. It makes such a huge difference in my day. Sunlight on the eyes within the first 20-30 min of waking up is crucial for someone like me with multiple chronic illnesses. So easy to use with multiple light settings and a timer. Small enough that I use it in my rv and the stand comes off the back making it completely flat so I travel with it. Slightly larger than a tablet

This definitely wakes me up and puts a pep in my step!! I bought it in the dead of winter and it made a huge difference in my day! Highly recommend. I turn it on it my kitchen.

This is already making a difference for me. The light is bright and controls are simple. I understand the purpose of visual symbols on the buttons is so that people around the world can use this light regardless of what language they speak. But, it would have been nice if they enclosed a sticker with words to describe what the symbols mean and which ones you should press and which ones you should hold. Another design flaw is that the stand is engineered to be always removable. In other words if you pick up the device to move it from a table to a shelf, the stand will fall off. Solved with a couple pieces of painters tape. I would recommend and I would buy it again. The price was excellent and the quality is very high. The design flaws can be managed.

As other customers have stated, the stand fails spectacularly as it does not click into the body of the device. Also, upon looking at many clinical trials and metadata studies to better understand the benefits of BLT (Bright Light Technology) the light should be facing down slightly at eye level, not up from desk level (which is not eye level). From below it seems to make viewing a monitor for work, TV or hand held device a little challenging to see. More time will be required to determine if this actually has a positive benefit on SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder), but I honestly hope it does. Three stars for “construction”

Moved from one star to three: Verilux has shipped a replacement and I will update this review further once I receive this product. This is ridiculous! the seller clearly indicates that this is a new product. Extremely Disappointed! If I wanted a used product, I would've shopped elsewhere. Instead of thinking you are saving yourself a couple of dollars, just go buy this at Costco. At least you know it will be a new product as stated, and it's local if you want to return it. After a bit of back and forth with Verilux, they’ve agreed to send a replacement. I am definitely happy with the outcome and will update further once I receive the new light. ******Hi, sorry for the delayed response to the review, Verilux stepped up to the plate and sent a replacement. It was in a package, wrapped up like it wasn’t used like the previous one I received. The light works perfectly. I’ve noticed a big improvement in mood and sleep using this light. I use this at the office, and though I find it falls down a fair bit due to the little stand coming out, I've been enjoying having it as I lack a window near my desk. I can't speak to how it's affected my mood, but I will say I feel more energized in the afternoon when I've used it in the morning! I tend to use it for long periods of time since it sits a little further away from me. Definitely not a task light, the angle it sits at doesn't allow for it

I’ve been using the Verilux HappyLight Touch Plus for a few weeks and it really helps. The light is bright, clean, and comfortable on the eyes. It’s easy to set up, takes almost no space, and the touch controls are simple. I use it in the morning while working and notice a clear boost in mood and focus, especially on dark days. Build quality feels solid and it looks good on my desk. For the price, it’s a solid light therapy lamp that actually does what it claims. Everyone in Canada should have some sort of vitamin D/light therapy routine for the wintertime. It can really help keep away those blues.
