First, this was the problem that I had. All toilets (4) in the house, when shutting off, caused a mild squeaking noise (not banging noise) in the pipe (far away for the toilet). Since it was not specific to a particular toilet, I did not think this product would help. I tried to adjust water main's switch (to change the overall water flow), tried to drain all the pipes (so to refill the pipe with air), but nothing helped.As I ran out of options, I decided to get one arrestor to see if it can fix the noise for at least one toilet.Amazon delivered the arrestor the next day. It was very easy to install, took only 10 - 15 minutes to install on one of the toilets. But after the installation (around 3pm), the noise was still there when shutting off the toilet (and of course every other toilet). I was very disappointed. But for $16, it was not worth the effort to uninstall and return. So, I just left it there.Surprisingly, the next morning, the noise went away. Not just for that toilet, it went away for all the other toilets too. I still do not understand why it took an entire night for the arrestor to work. But it did. It is the best $16 solution for an annoying plumbing problem.

If you have a touch faucet, this is a must to prevent water hammer damage. We have a Instahot under the sink with plastic hoses and they are vulnerable to water hammer so these add additional peace of mind. I will also replace the plastic tubing for the Instahot with braided SS water lines. Water hammer occurs when water is shut off very quickly. The back pressure from water hammer can burst pipes, tubing, and filters. If you’ve ever lived in a house where the pipes rattle or clunk when the washing machine shuts the water off, that’s water hammer.

Upon installation, worked great. Hammer successfully arrested. But after only 5 days, the unit has failed and is as if nothing is installed. Very dissatisfied.

This product is really a hit or miss. For me It might be working a bit, but definitely not stopping water hammer completely. I am too lazy to take it out and return. So be it.

Fitted in line to my dishwasher and stopped all banging instantly!

Took care of water hammer issue

Installed on a short run to 1 fixture - a countertop glass rinser. It worked well for around 1 week and is now completely ineffective. I estimate that it only lasted 50 to 100 cycles.

I purchased 2 of these to install in the kitchen. I've added one for the glass rinser didnt really soften the water hammering. I installed another arrestor after the tee on the supply line to the kitchen faucet and it leaked. Glad I had a moisture sensor under the sink. There's a gasket on the kitchen faucet line that didn't seal. I added Teflon tape to the threads and tightened things back up and it leaked again.I've order 2 and only 1 didn't leak but didn't really help with the water hammering.

Despite the price and star-rating differences between arrestors, they appear to have identical chambers, so I went with this one based on price. Works great on my dishwasher application.

If you're considering this product, tread with caution.

Had a hammer issue with the dishwasher. Installed this on the supply line. Nice and quiet now
