Rich, Full-Bodied Flavor
I really enjoy this coffee. The flavor is rich, deep, and full-bodied, with a smooth finish that I find especially satisfying as an espresso. It has a strong, authentic Italian coffee taste without being overly bitter or harsh. The aroma is also excellent, especially right after grinding the beans. I personally really like this bold, robust flavor profile, and it makes a great cup of coffee when I want something with more character and intensity. Overall, this is exactly the kind of coffee I enjoy—rich, smooth, and flavorful. I’m very happy with it and would definitely buy it again.

Amazing coffee that is the start of my everyday.
Like the rest of you, I have being drinking coffee feor a very long time. Not sure how many brands, likely 100 plus, or how many different offerings from those brands I have had. I will tell you this, I have re-ordered the Gran Riserva from Lavazza 35-40 times and I have yet top find anything close. I will go as far as to say that I have converted at least a dozen of my friends, neighbors, and family after they had a cup. It a very smooth, yet nutty coffee. It is always fresh and the roast makes the house smell amazing in the morning while grinding my next pots worth of beans. Give it a shot!!

Good Coffee
Very good coffee at a fraction of the cost of the Illy Intenso I was using.

Lavazza Gran Riserva Whole Bean Coffee Blend, Dark Espresso Roast
I ordered this because it sounded good, had really positive reviews, and the Lavazza coffee I've had in the past has been really good. Which is also the case with this roast, it's flavorful and delivers a very nice cup of latte. However, it was advertised as Dark Roast, which is not the case. It's a medium roasted bean, at least this particular batch. This is disappointing, however, I won't complain directly to Amazon, as the coffee is very good, and it's not worth my time. I sincerely wish that what is advertised is what will be delivered. I usually order Pete's, or Starbucks French or Italian. Both are dark, and are always delivered as advertised.

Great for Espresso
Best coffee bean for a Super Automatic Espresso Machine for the price. Low acid with bold flavor. I get this automatically delivered every 3 weeks.

My favorite espresso coffee
This blend gives me a consistent espresso with a thick crema time after time. I have tried many different blends, including Super Crema from Lavazza, but this one gives me the best results in my Breville Infuser. The blend is really medium dark; it's dark, but it's not super oily, and it stands up well to cappuccino. This is my favorite coffee for espresso. The only downside is that it doesn't come in bags any smaller than 2.2 pounds. It would be great if they would produce a 1-pound bag for the US market.

Lavazza's Dark Roast Bean Treasure
Before my review below, is it just me or does Lavazza, Amazon, and other authorized Lavazza resellers tend to sell Lavazza whole beans that were roasted almost a year ago? I realize they "nitrogen-flush" their beans for freshness, but once the Lavazza bag is exposed to air, the decomposition naturally continues, and logic says, beans professionally roasted 2 weeks ago will taste better than the same beans that were also professionally roasted a year ago? Thus, year-old "fresh" beans will go stale sooner than 2 week old beans? Discover the layers of flavor profiles WITHOUT any burnt undertones. I prefer Gran Riserva (and not "Gran Riserva Filtro") over Sinfonico in that Gran Riserva has more toffee, chocolaty and maple sweet layers whereas Sinfonico has a bold strong woodsy chocolaty coffee. Brewed in a Breville Barista, this lesser-oily dark bean also keeps the grinder easier to clean / brush, without sacrificing oily coffee layer characters. This bean is wonderful for steamed milk coffees. Now the negative: The 2.2 pound Lavazza whole bean packages I have received from Amazon and other webstores, despite Lavazza nitrogen-flushing and vacuum-sealing the beans, tend to have "older" roast dates (sometimes almost a year ago). The "Best By" dates are still about 6-9 months out but I swear, the whole beans tend to lose some of the character flavors (and crema) a bit faster than fresher, locally roasted beans. But it doesn't taste stale. Plus, Lavazza price point is also significantly lower than say, Peet's (Forte) beans at my local Peet's store. If you're searching for excellent dark whole beans (from Italy!), I'd say a freshly roasted bag of Lavazza Gran Riserva is still a winner and worth making it into your coffee bean rotation. It's a total crapshoot on how "fresh." or old. of a bag, you will actually receive. The good news is if you get year-old coffee beans, Amazon's customer service is tops. 2/23/22- Sadly, I’ve pulled this product OUT of my rotation. The older roast dated bags I have received lately seem to be much older and happen more often. I’m not sure if it’s because of the pandemic procurement issues or if Lavazza beans are on the warehouse shelves longer, so I had to remove one star.. Great bean blend, just not as fresh as I prefer to grind. Ciao!
