Then this is the book for you.I called this an "extension" to the manual, as it is not a replacement. The manual tends to tell you WHAT a menu item or button is, and this book tends to tell you what it is and HOW to use it.The book covers aperture, shutter speed, lenses, accessories, flash photography and also gives scenarios and how to use your camera in those situations. It will focus on a given situation, say, taking a potrait in cloudy conditions, then tell you specifics on how to use the Maxxum 7D's features to get the best outcome.Overall, I would say this book is better for the beginner to intermediate photographer. Advanced photographer's will find a lot of "I already knew that" amongst the pages, but it is still a good read on the toilet.You can get away with just the official manual, but if you are really excited about your new Maxxum 7D, you'll want this book.

I have a number of these books and find them very informative for each specific subject as well as giving you info on its useage. Next time I need info for another camera or even to evaluate one before buying I will difinately aquire one of these books first.
