I needed this for work

I had wanted the spiral bound abbreviated version of the DSM-5 last year, and purchased the full DSM-5 as it was not available. The price is good and I received it quickly. The reason that I am not giving it 5 stars is that most of the pages arrived stuck together, as in really stuck, and I have to separate them very carefully so that the pages do not rip. Apart from that, all is well. I am a mental health professional; my mastery of the DSM-5 and ICD 9/10 is a work in progress. It helps to have this cute, handy little spiral bound book to tag along with me at work or even take to bed.

Ever wonder just what the heck it is your psychiatrist is basing your diagnosis off of? This is it! If you get previous iterations like the dsm4 or dsm3, you can also learn to see how the diagnostic criteria has changed over time, and you can only imagine if not foresee the downstream consequences of such thought patterns being propagated across individuals pursuing a career in the field of psychiatry.

Great companion for the psychiatry resident's white coat. On an inpatient ward, I use this on an almost daily basis to double-check diagnostic criteria as well as a very quick check to make sure that I'm not missing anything on my differential. The cover has a nice waxy-like finish which has held up well in my coat pocket. I won't comment on the validity of DSM-V, it's utility in clinical settings, etc. etc. as that is a discussion for another setting. As a portable text and quick reference guide for the big DSM, though, this is a great product (if a bit expensive) that regularly joins me on my rotations.

Very convenient and compact. Decent quality but only when ordered new and sold from Amazon (ship/sold by Amazon). I initially purchased an used copy from a third party seller and book was very poor quality, also appeared to be an illegal copy of the original. Paper was very thin, pages were not straight, and some pages were not cut. The cover also looked different than the new version sold by Amazon. The book from Amazon did not have any quality problems and was on heavier paper.

DSM-'4までは、Quick Reference と言われていたハンディタイプの「精神疾患の分類と診断の手引き」ですね。なぜか今回から Desk Refrence という名称になっているんですね。日本語版のDSM-'4-TRよりひとまわりコンパクトでなかなか見やすい感じです。日本語版が出る前に、新しい診断分類と基準がどうなっているのか、一通り確認しておくのに購入しましたが、大変満足です。マニュアル本体のほうは大変大部でとても目を通せないので、私にはこちらで十分でした。

I love this little book, it gives a great overview of all the mental health conditions in an easy to carry book. Its like a pocket dictionary which is great. I would recommend it to friends. The delivery was also superfast.

This book has been referred to us for our internship at the Master's degree level. It comes very handy during fieldwork, due to its portability. The cover and the pages are quite dull, as I believe it must have remained in stock for too long. However, it's in a good condition with clear printing.
