Works great for shimano brakes
It is very similar to the one I had to cut off to shorten my brake cable. It doesn’t leak or anything. Works as it is supposed to. I’ve ordered several of these. That should tell you something.

Needed if you cut the lines again
New brakes comes with this from Shimano so if you shorten the lines for the new brakes you do not need this.But if you decide to shorten your lines again (too long or just moving them to a new bike) you will need this. When you cut the lines do it at the lever end where this is used.Yes, it is true that you can cut the lines and not need to bleed the lines as long as you follow the procedure and do not touch the lever, tilt the bike, mess with the calipers while you are doing it. Search and you'll find step-by-step directions online.
