Sugaring Paste for Bikini, Legs, Brazilian, Arms and Back - 12oz by Sugaring NYC

I got fed up with shaving. Tried professional waxing, but it broke the hair off instead of pulling the hair out by the root. I bought this on a whim- I have ZERO EXPERIENCE sugaring!!! Anyway I used an alcohol wipe to dry the skin on my legs and then rubbed a thin layer of cornstarch on them. Do this on a towel on the bathroom floor. The sugar was too hard to scoop so I did TEN SECONDS NO MORE!!! in the microwave. It gets hot fast. I used an old credit card and just scooped a glob out slapped it right on that leg and started going at it. I'm still learning the technique. Watch youtube shorts. ANYWAY it pulled the hair out by the root!!! It did break a few hairs off but I clearly have no background doing this so I'm sure I'll get better. Anyway I'm obsessed with this now! A little learning curve and so satisfying to do and waaay cheaper than waxing and the best part is not waiting for a wax appointment- I can use this to touch up regrowth any time! If you like DIY beauty- Do it! Do it! Do it!

So to begin, I of course read the reviews prior to purchase, and naturally I reverted to YouTube for a sugar waxing tutorial/ ‘how to’, following delivery of the product. Listen, I gotta tell ya, I am SO SATISFIED with this product! I usually use the Veet wax strips which have been just fine for a long time, but the sticky residue gets annoying after a while and for some reason I noticed that my hair doesn’t grow back as SLOWLY or grow back faster when I use Veet verses when I go to European wax center for a leg wax. I think the ingredients may play a role but who knows.. Anyways, back to THIS product: a little goes a LONG way. I used two(2) small balls (one for each leg) and they lasted me the entire waxing duration. The scent is natural (sugar duh lol), not over whelming. Stickiness on fingers comes off in seconds from a rinse under warm water. I didn’t use gloves, didn’t find it necessary as this is a natural product and I really wanted to get a feel for it completely. Please be patient with yourself, go with the learning process and as you continue using you’ll recognize which/what techniques work for you. I do agree, the ‘flicking’ technique I found to be the most successful with sugar wax. This was my FIRST time and I completed my wax session feeling like a PRO lol!!! I did not decide to warm my wax at all, I know some tutorials have that option yet I didn’t find it necessary. I found the wax was pliable enough to scoop into your palm without having to warm it. I do believe the negative reviews were because people don’t follow direction and although I understand everyone is different and we all have different types of body hair within a range, I can assure you that simply following the do’s/don’ts help by a long shot lol. ( I’d also like to add that I have somewhat thick lower leg hair and I did wait a bit until my hair was very visibly noticeable before waxing.) Take your time, watch a YouTube video or two, you have nothing to lose. SUGARING NYC MAKES FABULOUS SUGAR WAXES! *But* Skin ripped on one of my underarms pretty bad. :( Never happened before with other waxes. Hard waxing for years = no ripping + no irritation + but some skin darkness so I recently (4 months ago) switched to sugaring exclusively Sugaring NYC Sugar Wax - in-salon version = no ripping + no irritation + perfect hair removal + no underarm darkness at all :D *THIS SUGARING NYC PASTE* = painful noticeable & slow to heal skin rip on one underarm (only tiny small rip on other underarm-no pain- barely noticeable) + some underarm darkness still + no irritation still **So I will be switching to the Sugaring NYC Medium Paste*** ——hopefully it will be gentler + deep enough to take away slight underarm darkness I get sometimes depending on the wax type. ***NOTE: I started a medication 2 months ago where side effect could be some skin thinning so idk if that is a factor in my skin ripping this time when I tired this version of sugaring nyc sugar wax.*** I’ll update the review next wax (* hopefully, if I remember*)

Please don’t waste your money. This wax gets soo soft and sticky so quickly, that you can’t even wax with it. Room temperature, I struggled to get a ball out of the container. I made one small pass on my leg, then a second, and the wax was so soft and melted it was stuck to everything and unusable. I salvaged what I could and refridgerated for a few minutes. Then I had to add new wax to the cold ball and try again. Took forever to make any progress and you go through the wax so fast. My understanding was a ball of wax would go a long way. This is NOT the case with this brand/product.

The "Beware" portion of this review is simply so you won't end up being disappointed in the long run. Several of the negative reviews are very likely due to people either not reading directions in the first place and getting in a hurry, or not having done some outside research before making a purchase. Do those things, expect to have a bit of a short learning curve in the beginning (the first couple of uses), and you'll be well rewarded for your study and patience. My wife uses the products, we order, I get to do the reviews. LOL! But her comments are always very favorable once she's used this sugaring paste. She's had excellent results under her arms, above her upper lip, on her legs, and in more private areas. And the reported pain associated with some of the actual waxes is simply not an issue with this sugar paste. I watched her a couple of times, and expected to see/hear a lot of complaints. Didn't happen! And I attribute that to the study both of us did before hand. For example you go in the opposite direction with a sugar paste compared to waxes. Be prepared to experiment just a bit with heating and use, but once you find your optimum, you'll just continue that each time. Does hair grow in thicker? No. Does it grow back quicker? No, but some does come back very quickly mainly because it hadn't emerged from the follicles yet when it was first sugared, and therefore it may SEEM that it grows back quickly. But in reality, it's thinner, because you're only seeing the hair that is on a different growth cycle from what you removed perhaps days before. Over time it gets thinner (both coverage as well as consistency of the individual hairs themselves, per my wife's experience). I'm looking forward to use this some myself in the near future. At my age, "waxing" (in this case sugaring) isn't common, so I'm having to overcome some of the hesitation that comes from "men don't do this - it's for women" mentality. It'll happen, sooner rather than later. There are some areas that I truly wish were NOT hairy, and I expect, based on my wife's results, that this will be a much better answer than an electric trimmer. Oh - and this lasts for quite a few uses before it's empty, so price is not an issue.

After watching the videos on how to get started with heating up the wax and what not to do on sugar waxing, I felt confident in my ability. I usually use hard bead wax on my self but had a professional sugaring Brazilian session to compare the difference. This led me to purchase this paste and do it myself. However, I only heated up the wax for 5 seconds and it already was too gooey, so I just let it harden and tried again the next day at room temperature (my house is anywhere from 66-68 degrees Fahrenheit). It was still very malleable at room temperature and so I decided to go for it anyway. The product is super to use with the right technique and does a great job. However, after doing a few strips, the ball of wax becomes extremely gooey and hard to even manipulate to create the next strip. Luckily it washes off nicely with water, but I found myself constantly having to do this as the wax melted in my hand so fast I could barely do more than a few passes with the wax. While it did work amazingly, it was super time consuming to get the wax, manipulate it in my hand and then apply it a few times, just to restart because the wax was becoming so gooey so fast. I don’t know if it’s just me having this issue but my hands are usually ice cold so I don’t know what the issue is. I still recommend this product for at home use but recommend you have some patience and practice on an easy area before you make a gooey mess.

Literally felt NO PAIN when I did my Brazilian and this was my first time doing this myself and my last wax was four months ago! OMG I’m never going back to EWC again, you hear me lmao! I was laughing too, when I was doing each section because I for sure thought I was gonna wax one section and tap out, but SIKE! It didn’t hurt at all and I did the whole thing in like 10 minutes sitting down. I am so happy because this jar of wax was only $20 and I was able to do my Brazilian, arm pits, and stomach area with wax still left over, and in the comfort of my own home. To be fair I did also prep with the numb 520 cream and a pain pill, but it’s still amazing because I had no pain at all!!! I’m buying two more jars ASAP!

I loved this product. First time ever trying to wax period and specifically Brazilian area. I heated this up to the recommended temperature and went in small chunks since I wasn’t in a rush lol. The product applied well and of course it was a bit painful but honestly not as bad as people said it would be and I’m attributing it to the sugar paste. Especially loved that if I needed I break or adjust placement I could just rinse it off. Very user and beginner friendly. They got a lifetime customer in me
