The Best Finish: Adopting a Retired Racing Greyhound Hardcover – December 1, 2003

This book finished the unaswered questiona about a greyhound we adopted. A person wonders where they come from and how they have been treated. This book answered alot of questions about how the dog may have been treated and where they have been, what kind of care is needed and what to expect. It would be a good book to have before or after adoption and is referenced by many people who have had and adopted these dogs from vets, multiply greyhound owners and people from the track. Its a good read and easy to go thru. Our experience is out greyhound was pretty much of a blank book when it came to real life and this filled in some of the blanks and the rest the dog is filling. She is a lovely dog and needs some work but a loving companion with tons of personality. I would hope purchase of this book and some patience make your dogs transition easy on you both.

Good book, lots of useful information

I ordered this book as well as some others when I was considering the adoption of a retired racing greyhound. I must say, that although all the books have valuable information, this one was the most interesting to read. Full of great information. After my reading "research" we did go ahead and adopt a greyhound and she is just the best, gentlest dog ever!

This book contains good advice and information. Should be read before adoption but I am reading it after adopting two retired racing greyhounds. I could have been more prepared to bring home our new dogs, but it has still been an awesome experience, they are so easy to care for and such a joy!

This book is fantastic. The books introduction made me feel so emotional having recently adopted an ex racer myself- so beautifully written. It is a really enjoyable read and is jam packed full of must-know information. I highly recommend this book.

Interesting, well produced book. Picked up some helpful hints.

This is a 'coffee table' (USA oriented) would be retired greyhound guide. Coverage is superficial to the point of an editor's blurb rather than an informative book. The (very) few pieces of information that illuminate are available elsewhere, I'd recommend 'Retired Racing Greyhounds for Dummies' (also USA bias), detailed to the point of needing breaks whilst reading.

Few good tips, nothing that cant be found on the web.
