Great album .. shame about tracklisting
Samantha Jones is a much underrated talent from the 60s as this and the companion Vol 1 album show. It's a shame that the advertised "Best of both worlds" (a great track for both Samantha Jones and Lulu) isn't on the CD as advertised - a pity that the people at RPM didn't rate this track enough to include it on the final CD.

RPM's second release of Samantha Jones
After the success of my first Samantha Jones gamble, it was a natural choice to sample RPM's second release which focuses on her work between 1969 and 1971.There are some very nice sleeve notes (just like the first part) and of course the release of some sought after material with very good sound quality, but for me this edition overall just wasn't quite as strong as the first part. However, there's a range of material on here so there should be more than enough to keep you satisfied, ranging from 'I Go To Sleep' (written by Ray Davies of The Kinks and had previously been recorded by Solihull's very own Brumbeat group The Applejacks), to her version of 'My Way'. the previous reviews had already noted the work is slowly leaning more towards cabaret. Again, that's not a bad thing at all but it might not be to everyone's taste. There seems to be some confusion about the track listing as well - Amazon's listing seems to be incorrect, however RPM's back packaging and CD itself notes, 'Tracks 1-12 produced by Mark Wirtz' and 'Tracks 12-20 produced by Larry Page', so there's a little confusion already as it indicates there should be 20 x songs. The track listing is actually as below:1. Today (Without You)2. The Feeling That I Get When You're Near Me3. Do I Still Figure In Your Life4. I'm Sorry But I Think I Love You5. Taking The Heart Out Of Love6. Put A Little Love In Your Heart7. Until Tomorrow8. Come To Me Slowly9. (You Make Me Feel) Like A Natural Woman10. In The Morning11. I'll Never Fall In Love Again12. I Go To Sleep13. My Way14. Guilty (Of Loving You)15. Which Way You Going Billy16. It's A Pity The Ship Is Sinking17. Handy18. You Don't Know Me19. The TC Theme 2 (Ford Leads The Way - Version 2)RPM Records have released other Samantha Jones recordings and I suppose it's based on these which is why my review might be a little harsh in terms of the overall rating. Don't get me wrong, this is not a bad CD at all and some arrangements really work for Samantha Jones, but on the whole I preferred the first CD of her work and I awarded that 4*. If I could have, I think 3.5* would have been a more accurate rating. However, there's great sleeve notes and overall good sound quality too. Copies of both RPM Samantha Jones CDs seem to be very expensive now which is a real shame as there's not a lot of here recordings around on CD. For further reading, I have also reviewed RPM's 'Surrounded By A Ray Of Sunshine' first CD of Samantha Jones, plus also 'We Love The Vernons Girls' from 1962-64, a time when Samantha Jones was in the group. I hope these will be of interest and help you fur future reference.
