Peace and Quiet !!!
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. I bought this specifically because of the noise reduction. I looked through tons of reviews and found this to be the Best Buy. My ears are highly sensitive and the one thing that used to drive me up a wall is my fiancé using her hair dryer late at night while I’m laying in bed. Now it’s significantly better.

Quietest Hair Dryer I've Found By Far!
First and foremost, this hair dryer is the quietest one I've found by far. While working my way through college, I became a sound recording technician, which introduced me to the audiophile industry. And the sound levels encountered over the years from this, coupled with a variety of other endeavors, including starting guns in swimming pools and lawn mowing at an early age, then chain saws in midlife, resulted in some hearing loss and tinnitus for the last 40 years. Ergo my search for anything quiet to minimize ongoing noise impact to keep what hearing is left..So how good it the Centrix Q-Zone? Well, two samples measure 74dba on low and 82dba on high, using a sound pressure meter held 3" from the front nozzle, as done by most reputable review sites. And this sound is in the lower frequencies, which is much easier on those with tinnitus, where the frequency affected is usually in the 2000-4000hz range.By contrast, almost all the other ones purported to be quiet, including the Revlon Quiet Pro, the Solaris Whisper Quiet, the Bio Ionic Whisper Light and several others are a magnitude louder and most have a raspy or whiny sound that exacerbates the impact on hearing. They all measured between 80-85dba on low and 89-95 on high. By comparison, my cheap portable folding Conair 1875 measures 79dba on low and 92 on high! The Bio Ionic was in fact the worst at the top of that range on both low and high. And it has the fewest control options, containing only off, low speed/heat, high speed/heat. The Centrix on the other hand, has two three position switches, with off/low/high for speed and low/med/high for heat, plus the ubiquitous cool shot button. And even though it has a "bulbous" motor area to house it's squirrel cage motor design, it's still comfortable to hold and use. Frankly, for the low noise level and what seems like a high quality build, I can't imagine any better hair dryer, particularly for the price compared to many other salon dryers which are 2 to 5 times more expensive.

Great hair dryer!
I have been looking for a seriously QUIET hair dryer and this is it! And it dries my hair well, too. I did research on dryers in advance and one criticism of this product was that power was compromised in favor of quiet. This is a bit true (its 1500 watts) but inconsequential--it still does the job very well and expediently, even with my long hair. I like that, even on the high setting, the sound volume is not at all grating (there are two speed settings, low/high). The sound is lower frequency so there is no irritating high frequency shrill, as with your average hair dryer. My husband and I have a double vanity in our bathroom and we're often getting ready to go out simultaneously and my former screechy hair dryer drove him nuts. I can now dry my hair and still converse with him, esp on the low setting. There are 3 different heat settings and ionic and tourmaline technology that is better for hair health and faster drying. I considered buying the coveted Dyson Supersonic hair dryer, also touted as extremely quiet, but I didn't want or need all of the extra settings and it is very also expensive at around $400. This Centrix Q-zone is $100 well spent, in my opinion, and I am very happy with its performance.

OH MY STARS!
I bought this dryer because, at age 62, I am beginning to have some hearing loss and my Wal-Mart dryer is way too loud. This one fit the bill -- very quiet and dries my hair quickly. BUT, I cannot believe the difference in my hair! You can see from the pix that my hair is dyed and highlighted which leaves it so dry and fly-way...until I used the Centrix Q. I cannot believe the difference -- same shampoo, conditioner, brush, etc.

Not great
I gave this two stars only because it was "quiet".When mine arrived it was already scuffed up from being loose in the box.Turning the fan to low would result in a terrible rattling sound (right out of the box). On high the rattling would go away, but still sound a little rough.Judging by previous reviews; I believe mine could have been damaged in shipping because the fan mounts supposedly break easily.I immediately returned the item and will not be ordering another. I thought spending $100 would get my wife something of higher quality. Instead it felt cheap and reviews indicate it would not last even if I got a good unit.It is REALLY hard to find a quality, quiet, hairdryer with good reviews. This is something every woman has, so why are there no real good online lists or rankings for these things with accurate DB/Noise levels, airflow measurements, temperatures, etc.

Nice, but....
I've been looking forever to find a reasonably priced 'quiet' hairdryer as I'm always conscious of waking up the whole neighbourhood at 6am in the morning. This dryer does what it says on the tin regarding heat & power settings but as for being exceptionally quiet then I'm sorry I have to disagree. It is definitely quieter than some other smaller motor type models which can be ear blasting, but whether that is worth the extra cost I'm not so sure. It is generally a nice dryer to use, but is pretty bulky & I was quite disappointed with the noise levels which all the promotional hype. There are some noise level examples on Utube which are worth a look if you are considering buying this.

It saved my marriage ;)
I was looking for a quiet hair dryer because my husband gets really annoyed with the hairdryer noise every morning. I found Centrix in Amazon and decided to try it. It is really quiet if you use in the intermediate speed. The strongest option is not sooo quiet but it is even better than my oldest hair dryer, I believe it is quieter than the majority available in the market. If I shut doors, my husband barely can hear me! So, it saved my marriage :) It is less loud than usual hair dryers, but bare in mind that this is not a miracle. One not so good thing is that it is quite big, not handy for travelling for example.

High price tag does not mean quality product
The first day i used this, it has a slight rattle noise to it whenever i titled it slightly. I didnt think much of it at first but over the next week, the rattling noise got louder and even worse if i tilt the hairdryer in any direction. I feel like this product will die out on me in a few weeks or months. Its unfortunate that this got a lot of good reviews. I was excited for a good, high quality hairdryer to last me close to a lifetime for the price but i guess they shipped me a faulty, damaged one since the rattling noise keeps getting worse over time. Ill be switching back to my old $20 hairdryer that isnt dying out on me. The only reason this is 2 stars instead of 1 is because it is in fact very quiet just as advertised, so that's a plus i guess.

Extra Quiet, Good Quality!
Super quiet, exactly what I wanted it for! It's not like a stealth machine, but it's not going to blow out your eardrums either. Pretty heavy, seems easy to hold and not too awkward to grip. Doesn't dry my hair any faster than a normal dryer(7-10 minutes for thick hair), but I'm still really happy with it. I'd only recommend this pricetag to those looking specifically for a quiet sound, otherwise it's just a nice product.
