Author leaves out interesting things
Pretty interesting, and I was even on the author's side to begin with, as he was able to get his "innocent" girlfriend free after months of dealing with the corrupt Ecuadorian legal system. When she returns to England and is arrested there, as a way for the British cops to "get at" him, all further mention of her ceases. That indicates that she was convicted, but that the author doesn't want to say so because he was the one bringing her along on this fun adventure.His stay in hellhole prisons is fairly detailed, though I would have liked a few reconstructed conversations to show how he got permission from the gangs to deal drugs, and how he related to the guards. He only talks about dealing coke and crack, except for one occasion. He is being moved to another prison on short notice, and has to dispose of all drugs. He hands a bag of heroin to a user, so that the guy can "step down the heroin use gradually".At another point he mentions "taking over" the drug dealing on his wing of the prison, but provides no further details. Once he writes that somebody "claimed" he threatened them with a gun. He says nothing about partying with his friends - I think women were even mentioned once - since the narrative is all about what a corrupt hellhole he had to endure.

"El Infierno" is one of the most engaging books that I have ever read;
The narrative part of Tritton's writing style is articulate, fluid, and riveting. It is rich with descriptive details that evoke your feelings and draw your mind and imagination intimately into the action. I actually found myself rooting for this amoral drug dealer. The descriptive elements revealed intimate details of the cocaine trade such as how to impregnate cocaine into other substances and materials so that the cocaine is virtually undetectable during the smuggling process. The entire story is both engaging and informative.

Wow!
Such a gripping tale from a slice of this world I hope to never experience! As you follow one man’s journey through the underbelly of the Ecuadorian prison system, it’s hard to put this book down. If you need something to dissuade yourself from trafficking narcotics in third world countries, this is the book for you.

Didn’t learn his lesson
An interesting account of prison life in another country. I kept waiting for the author to redeem himself by giving up his drug dealing ways yet he continued to peddle cocaine and even heroin during his entire time in the foreign prison. This made him quite unlikeable in my eyes. Every one of those people you sold drugs to had to deal with the effects of addiction and damage to their long term health.And why did the author do this? Simply to make money which is exactly what got him into this whole mess in the first place.While I was happy to see the truth, I didn’t find this an enjoyable read because of the author’s character. Even at the very end when he was thinking about drugging his guards with sleeping pills so he could escape, his focus was solely on himself with zero regard for the damage or deaths he could have caused the guards if they fell asleep while driving.Quite despicable really. In his YouTube video he claims to be spreading the message about staying away from drugs, however in the book the author never turned the corner to become a better person.

Makes you want to never break the law!
Captivating book by a great storyteller! Highly recommend this book. Crazy what other countries penal systems are like and blessed to be in the US.

Compelling Story
I read the whole book in 2 days. It's an incredible story. Unfortunately, there are some things in the book which are completely impossible. (For example catching TB from BCG vaccine). It made me question what else was either fabricated, or based on the author's flawed interpretations of events. Never the less, it is incredibly entertaining and well worth the read.

Un livre parlant
J’ai acheté ce livre après avoir écouté les témoignantes de l’auteur sur insider. Il est parlant de revivre ces moments de vie sombres et uniques au travers des yeux de la personne qui l’a vécue
