Summer Infant Bentwood Bassinet with Motion, Baby Time (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

Very easy to set up and seems to be made very sturdy. Everything fit together nicely and only took me about 20 minutes to set up the first one and about 10 minutes to set up the second one (twins). The colors are nice and neutral and I especially liked the green trim so much that we decided to get some other items that matched with it to stick with that color scheme. A couple of issues I had was when you connect the module that rocks/moves the bassinet, you have to flip a switch in the module so that it comes out of display mode so it will rock for a full 30 minutes, if you don't it'll only rock for about 15 seconds I believe. Another thing is that the music isn't very loud at all, however I don't know if this is going to be an issue or not.

This bassinet is a great "idea". I have been very active during pregnancy (jogging, walking, aerobics, etc.), so I thought that it would be a good idea to get a rocking or gliding bassinet, as our baby is very used to a lot of movement. The bassinet is cute and looks very sturdy, so I gave it a three star review... Unfortunately, we are having quite a lot of trouble with getting one that actually works or looks new. The first order had rust and sand on the fabric and looked like it had been previously opened. We exchanged it for another one and this one is now set up, but does not "glide". The motor does not give off any movement. We put in batteries and moved the switch from demo, but the motor sounds like it is jammed or something. That was a huge disappointment, because we already went through the hassle of re-packing and sending back. Now we might just try something else, because it is getting ridiculous. I don't want to chance that happening again and not having a bed ready for our baby - who's due date is getting closer by the day...

We bought this bassinet soon after we brought our preemie and low birth weight son home from the NICU. We had a crib set up for him, as well as a Moses basket, and we soon had to realize that the crib (for now) is not a good fit for him (or me) - he felt, and looked lost in the crib, and I felt like he was too far from me. The Moses basket was a good temporary solution, he loved sleeping in it, I could have him right next to me, but the construction did not look too sturdy for me - we still use it for his naps, but I desperately wanted a better solution.I did a lot of research before buying this bassinet. When we first got it, my son looked so small in it - and felt lost, yet again! He was unable to sleep in it until he was around 12 weeks, when we gradually started easing him into it. He LOVES it now. He is a small baby, so he has a good while to go before he hits 15 pounds. He definitely feels at home in it now, and has no problem sleeping in it. In fact, we noticed in the past two weeks that when he is fussy and has a hard time falling asleep, this works wonders. We put him in the bassinet, turn on the swaying and the white noise, hold his pacifier for him, and he is asleep in 10 minutes. He used to hate this bassinet and was not a fan of the white noise or the swaying, but now he does really well in it. I didn't think we would ever use the motion/music functions but we do all the time.The bassinet itself is very sturdy and great to look at. It has a storage basket underneath, which is great. Fabric seems to be breathable. One concern would be that my son can often wriggle himself down to the bottom of the bassinet, and he is all crunched up there. We didn't have this problem with his Moses basket, because he was well nested in there. Another concern for me is the height. The bassinet is right next to me, and I can't just reach in and check on him/take him out, I always need to stand up for that (but I am short).Overall, excellent product.

Not sure how this item was rated so high. The gentle swaying is more like a jerky swaying even around a medium low setting this unit is probably cheaper than other motorized unit because it gets its motion from a spinning counter weight and cannot get a true swaying motion without much larger diameter weight. We placed the bassinet on a level surface and yet it sits at an angle and my daughter seems to roll downhill to get stuck on her side. but with the white noise (sounds of the womb) and the motion set to really low setting it does help a little.

We wanted a new bassinet for our son to sleep in our room for the first couple of months. We looked at many and were drawn to this because it isn't frilly looking or bulky.We absolutely love this one. With a four year old at home we needed something sturdy that she could look into at her baby brother, but wouldn't risk tipping easily. This would take a lot of force for her to tip, but she's rather gentle and tall and can easily look over the edge.It has a modern, clean look which is definitely appealing as opposed to the frilly, lacy, fabric covered bassinets we were looking at. The sides of the interior are breathable and all fabrics are easy to remove and clean if necessary and assembly was simple. We love the swaying feature and music/soothing sounds. I do see it being a battery eater (takes 4 large C batteries) but that's okay. We also love the storage basket beneath. We didn't think we'd use it very much but its also sturdy and easy to reach during middle of the night changes.Overall, we're very pleased with this purchase. It will last the time we need it easily and will be easy to pass on or save for the next baby. The only thing that would make it even better would be if it used a power adapter instead of batteries.UPDATE: This was our favorite purchase from the newborn stage. Having to transition to the crib was dreaded because we loved the ease and calm of this bassinet. I love it. we changed the batteries only three times over the course of five months and used the music and swaying motion constantly. LOVED this item.
