13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim (PS4)

Truly a unique and masterful story. 10/10

The story is actually pretty good, though it definitely is confusing. While the gameplay of the main story looks a bit primitive (sprites with less than perfect animation), the story is great. As for the action side of the game, it is likewise no graphical behemoth or anything, but it IS fun if you like strategy type games like Final Fantasy or War of the Human Tanks. Also, once the main game is done, you get an extra 9,999 levels of the action stuff which, I got to say, is value :p

This whole game is very interesting and unique. It is really unlike anything else I have ever played. It is more a visual novel you are uncovering as you play. The characters are very well written, voice acted, and realized. The story is very good. The combat is a good level of challenge (on the highest difficulty). I would highly recommend it if you are up for a lot of reading and watching a mystery unfold for you.

13 different sci-fi stories all taking place in the same place all to fight aliens in mechas, and that’s just the first thirty minutes

Story is actually like 9.5/10 it's on par with Nier, Persona or Mass Effect. Gameplay is interesting enough to be deep but not the star of the show.

As always any Vanillaware game is worth the wait. If you love excellent 2D animations and curiously detailed 2D renditions of food; this is for you.

I absolutely love the story and the gameplay! 13 Sentinels kept me guessing the entire time! This is my game of 2019!

Si eres fanático del anime y los juegos japoneses seguramente lo vas a disfrutar ya que no sólo tiene una trama que te atrapa, también cuenta con varios Seiyū reconocidos en el mundo. Ho terminato ieri "13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim" ...dopo una giornata di riflessione posso definirlo un’esperienza narrativa rara e preziosa nel panorama videoludico. La sua trama, che dura circa 30 ore, è un intreccio di fantascienza, mistero e dramma umano, raccontata in modo non lineare ma con una precisione chirurgica: nessun buco, nessuna forzatura, solo un mosaico che si compone pezzo dopo pezzo fino a un finale che lascia senza fiato. Fino all’ultimo istante non hai davvero idea di cosa stia accadendo, e ogni rivelazione è un colpo di scena che ribalta le tue certezze. A prima vista potrebbe sembrare un classico titolo ispirato agli anime dove un gruppo di protagonisti pilota enormi mecha per affrontare giganteschi kaiju. Ma quella è solo la punta dell’iceberg: dietro le battaglie si nasconde una trama molto più profonda, contorta e ricca di sfumature, capace di sorprendere anche i giocatori più smaliziati. I tredici protagonisti sono caratterizzati con una cura straordinaria: ognuno ha una voce, una storia e un percorso che lo rendono memorabile. Il doppiaggio giapponese è di altissimo livello, capace di dare ulteriore profondità emotiva a ogni scena. Ho particolarmente apprezzato la presenza dei sottotitoli in italiano, un dettaglio che oggi sembra sempre più raro e che qui è realizzato con grande attenzione. Il combat system, pur non essendo il punto più innovativo del gioco, riesce comunque a divertire e a dare ritmo alle fasi più concitate. È un complemento funzionale alla narrazione, che resta il vero cuore pulsante dell’opera. Vanillaware ha creato un titolo che non esito a definire un capolavoro nel suo genere, e la firma di Atlus è un’ulteriore garanzia di qualità e cura. 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim non è solo un videogioco: è un viaggio emozionante e sorprendente, che dimostra quanto il medium possa raggiungere vette narrative altissime. Mi pento solo di non averlo giocato prima.
