Q: Can this be used to clone an SSD?

Yes, the conextion will be seen by the OS as a power supply to the drive, so if you have cloning software running on your OS, it does work. I have cloned many drives on my server. Windows is crap about cloning drives but using a third-party software suite like EaseUS Partition Master will do so easily and dependable. Always check your new SSD integraty and health before you clone a drive to it and also be sure the SSD being cloned is in good health or you will get a corrupted clone. Also, understand this is a power adaptor only, you will still need a DATA cable that must be a SATA (Serial Advanced Technology) spec.

This cable connects to the 4-pin female molex connector that comes out of your power supply. It sounds like you're trying to convert power coming out of the slimline cable that is already included with your power supply, in that case this is not the correct cable for you.
