AmLactin Alpha-Hydroxy Therapy Moisturizing Body Lotion with Lactic Acid for Dry Skin, White, Fragrance-Free, 2 Ounce

I stumbled across AmLactin in a drugstore a few years ago. I was looking for something to help with my severely dry, painful skin, when the cosmetics lady asked if she could help. I explained what I was looking for, and why I have trouble with many other lotions. (They feel greasy, don't absorb quickly enough, not strong enough to really help, constant reapplication necessary, doesn't last very long - especially through hand washing.) She enthusiastically recommended AmLactin - and I enthusiastically turned it down after seeing the price. She assured me it was the best lotion she'd ever used, saying she has customers who are such ardent fans that they specifically go to that store just to purchase it (it used to be harder to find), and that I could bring it back for a full refund if I didn't like it. (So it was that last point that changed my mind.)I could not have been happier!! I am a total AmLactin fan now. This stuff is amazing - it will soften even the grossest, driest heels. It doesn't work in one application - but a significant difference is seen (felt) after using it once. It's the cumulative effects I freak over...using this after I get out of the shower (I either exfoliate with those loofah-type gloves, or use a pouf) has LITERALLY kicked my Keratosis Pilaris to the curb. For years I had struggled with those little red (or white) bumps that can resemble little teepees on the skin - and sometimes itch like crazy. I had them on my arms, my stomach, my thighs, my rear...UGH! Keratosis Pilaris (KP) is not only ugly, but it feels bumpy and rough. Not so attractive! I finally found an amazing solution - Neutrogena Body Clear (http://www.amazon.com/Neutrogena-Body-Clear-Clean-Ounce/dp/B0000535RD/ref=sr_1_3?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1445698026&sr=1-3&keywords=neutrogena+body+wash) on a pouf in the shower, then AmLactin Cerapeutic (the blue one) after drying off. BAM! Buh-bye KP! The results of using these two products has changed my skin from a rashy, extremely dry, itchy/painfully raw, ashy MESS to smooth, soft, beautiful skin that has a healthy glow. I love my skin now - and I don't have to apply AmLactin everyday anymore - a couple times a week seems to keep my skin perfectly moisturized, and the KP at bay.AmLactin is full of fantastic ingredients designed to give you the best skin possible - including wonderful Alpha-Hydroxy and Lactic Acids. I'm pretty sure those are what gives this lotion its distinct smell. AmLactin can also burn if your skin is really dry or cracked. The burning goes away in under a minute, but the level of burning can be surprising. This also doesn't taste good...at all. Not that I recommend eating lotion - but if you put this on your hands and then accidentally get it in your mouth, the taste is...umm...distinct. (Just like the smell!) I haven't noticed the smell or taste as much with this green version - but the blue version certainly has it. (It also seems that the blue version is stronger than this version.) The smell doesn't last - it dissipates once it soaks in, and I think a slight smell during application is totally worth the results. (I would say the smell of this "fragrance-free" version rates a 3 on a scale of 1-10 - REALLY not bad.)This is the first time I've purchased this variety of AmLactin. You can instantly tell you've applied the lotion - and those results last for hours. I would highly recommend this version if you have sensitive skin - the Cerapeutic may be too strong. This stuff rocks at getting rid of your dead, dull skin - and it leaves behind soft, smooth, truly moisturized skin. My skin LOVES this stuff. It's easy to see why so many dermatologists recommend this, even preferring it to most prescription creams. This version is a fantastic hand cream (if you need serious moisturizing, but not enough to bump up to the Cerapeutic - or find the Cerapeutic is too much) and will instantly abolish hang nails, cracked cuticles, and knuckles!After using nearly every lotion on the market, this is BY FAR the best. No competition. This small size is super easy to throw in your purse, car, or stick in your desk. Since it doesn't take much, I feel like you will be proclaiming your love for AmLactin long before this little bottle is empty. You won't believe the ways this will improve your skin - or the beautiful quality your skin will have after using it. You'll see instant results, but keep using it and you will be blown away. This doesn't block pores and is wonderful to use on your face. The Acids (Alpha-Hydroxy and Lactic) tighten your skin, among other things. I can't express how awesome the results are - if you struggle with seriously dry skin or KP, I strongly encourage you to try this. Everyone who uses this (that I know) gushes about the positive results. There are several versions of this amazing cream - Cerapeutic, Moisturizing Body Lotion (this one), and a foot cream. After finally trying this version, I can't say enough about all AmLactin products. You will wonder what you ever did without this, I swear.I have made some pretty strong claims in this review, but I strongly stand behind every single one of them. If I were only allowed to have five things with me, this would be one of the five. It will change the way you care for your skin - FOREVER. And it's so easy - just rub it in. Optimal results with minimal effort - that's a successful product to me!(If you want to try this, but don't want to pay the price, I was going to mention that I have also used the Perrigo Fragrance Free Ammonium Lactate Lotion 12% (http://www.amazon.com/Ammonium-Lactate-Lotion-12%25C-P-Fliptop/dp/B000WOS71I/ref=sr_1_2?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1445713629&sr=1-2&keywords=perrigo). It has the same amount of AHAs and Lactic Acid in it - but it's about half as much as AmLactin's brand name. It still has the same smell and works exactly the same - I just wanted to throw this option out there for anyone who wants the benefits of this insanely good moisturizer, but wants to spend half as much.) :)

Now I didn't get overnight results using this lotion when it comes to my rough around the edges feet, but over time I've seen and felt definite improvement. My feet feel smoother with each use of Amlactin. But with my face, I did get overnight improvement in that my skin was so soft and smooth the next day. I started using it every night after my shower on both my face and my arms, legs, and feet with great results. My upper arm bumps disappeared after about a week, and my skin felt so much smoother on my arms and legs. However, after using it for several nights (and a few days too) on my face, my face started to sting after applying, especially under my eyes (I was extremely careful not to go within 1/4" of my eyes). So I laid off my face for a while and then started back on an every other night basis. That solved the problem and I'm still on that schedule. My arms and legs and feet never had a problem with nightly use and I continue doing it. The next day my arms and legs still feel soft and it feel like the lotion is still protecting them. For my feet, I got the foot cream version as it is richer and thicker and seems to do a bit better at keeping them soft. The lactic acid is a little easier on my face than alpha lipoic acid for sloughing off dead skin cells which is the main principle behind why skin feels softer after using this lotion. The only drawback with using it is the tackiness it leaves for a while. Depending on how humid it is outside (I live in Michigan), especially in summer, the tackiness lasts about an hour and sometimes more. But to me, that is a small price to pay for wonderfully soft and thoroughly sloughed skin. I bought a large bottle of it at my store (Meijers) for about 10 bucks. Unfortunately, it was the last bottle and who knows when they'll stock it again, but I'm hoping to find it at CVS too.

Between those three hospitalizations last year and the medications I'm on coupled with poor circulation in my legs--my legs look and feel like lizard skin--yuck. I have been trying every lotion I could get my hands on--nothing really worked on my legs-----My doctors nurse had told me about Amlactin quite a while back and I did look for the sample size in all the stores-to no avail. She had told me it really works and fast so I kept looking. But I have so many allergies I was looking for a sample size so I could try it out without spending a small fortune only to throw out the product because of said allergies.Then one day ---I spotted it!! Of course I clicked in. It was a sample size and only 2.99. What I didn't know at the time I had to buy something else in order for them to send it to me. So, I shrugged my shoulders and kept going. I proceeded to forget all about it and then----I was purchasing something at Amazon in order to review it. I went to the site with my code and proceeded with the order---I got to the end and low and behold the Amlactin was added to the order!So far it has worked on my arms beautifully--and has helped with my legs. But I think I am going to have to get Amlactin's stronger product for those legs-the Ultra Hydrating Body Cream I love that it is fragrance free and it does not feel greasy (as long as you rub it in really well).Yes, I will definitely be purchasing one of the Amlactin products again!

I bought this a month back. Skin definitely feels smooth but the red spots have not reduced yet. The product was 500 back then. Now, finding it too pricey for the quantity to purchase it again.
