Amazon Basics Stainless Steel Dutch Oven with Lid, 5-Quart

This is the perfect pot! Well made, and just the right size. A pot roast and vegetables fit perfectly! Easy to clean, and very attractive. I have several others that just aren’t quite big enough. Love this one, and use it all the time.

I was really pleased with this 'pot' - it's larger than I thought. I think that Amazon Essentials sells very well made products and this is certainly one of them! It's great for soups and stews - it's very solid and the base is heavy which is important. Just an overall great product! By the way I use it also for something you wouldn't think of? I found a tip for thawing things like fish and chicken and so on. I put them in this pot in it's original package and fill it over the top with cold water. You can leave it there for a few hours (they say to change out the water every 30 minutes but I don't do this). It's great if you have forgotten to take out your food the night before and it works like a charm. It works every time. This pot does it all!

I love this. The only reason for 4 stars overall is the handles get very hot. Other than that, I love it and I would buy it again.

Exactly what I had hoped for! If you know how to cook with stainless steel and prefer it over alternatives, get it.It is as shiny looking as the multi-ply stainless pan, but doesn't scratch like they do. Put it on the right-sized burner and the extra thick aluminum bottom will distribute the heat evenly -- no need to crank up the heat. Relatively light weight when compared to the heavy duty/all-clad stock pots that I currently use for making stews, soups, corned beef, casseroles etc.It is so hard to find any pans with a lid, let alone with a glass lid, without having to buy an entire set of pans. LOVE finding this one! Easy, easy clean-up if you know how to cook with stainless steel. In fact, it came out of the dishwasher as shiny as if it was brand new.

I am particular about having things match. I desperately need a six-quart stockpot, and all my cookware is Cuisinart. However, it has been sold out or over-priced for a while So, when Amazon suggested their own brand, my need too over my desire.I am so happy that happened. The quality of this pot is very well. Nice heavy bottom, so it heats evenly and holds heat well. The handles are nice and wide. On the glass lid is a tiny hole to let steam out; my popcorn loves that.I would definitely recommend it.

Love this Dutch oven.perfect size for our use as husband has been cooking from scratch like a wild man since COVID began. Old Dutch oven was flaking off non stick coating so was concerned about it getting into the food. As a new pan, this stainless is so highly polished it cooks like non stick. I like it’s durable feel and weight of the pan and substantial handles which don’t seem to get hot. Comes with lid that contains a steam escape hole. Would recommend.

I've used it twice to boil potatoes and it works good. Haven't tried any other type cooking yet.

We have always used a cast iron Dutch oven, but lately it has been too heavy for as often as we use it. I purchased this pot to minimize how often she would use the Dutch. We love this pot. It’s much much lighter. It’s also very durable. I’m thinking about buying a larger one for cooking for friends.

I got this for my daughter’s first house - she’s an avid cook so now we’re going into autumn, soups and casseroles are the order of the day. This is pretty ginormous, so she can batch cook to her heart’s content for the freezer.Amazon Basics range is always quality stuff, well made and nicely finished, at a very good price. This definitely fits the bill, at less than £25 it has the look and feel of another brand’s stock pot at twice the price. The stainless steel will last years, of course, and with the tempered glass lid (plus vent hole of course) at least you can see what’s going on.My only slight quibble is the handles - they’re fine, they don’t get too hot but they just don’t feel quite sturdy enough to me. Nothing major I can put my finger on, and they seem well riveted to the pan, but with a heavy pan full of stew, are they up to the mark with repeated use?? Personally (and my daughter isn’t the slightest bit worried about this, it’s just me) I’d have liked slightly more robust and larger handles, with a decent grip too, because when you’re wearing oven mitts the handles seem quite small to pick up a heavy pan. So I rather meanly docked a star...

This is an excellent quality stock pot. It has 4.7 L capacity, is made from 18/8 stainless steel with an attractive mirrored finish and comes with a well fitting tempered glass lid.The pot and lid has good sized handles, the handles did remain cool enough to handle when I used it on my induction hob, although care should be taken as I did feel steam escape from the lid when I placed my hands on the pot handles. The visibility through the lid is exceptional and it was easy to see have my food was cooking in the pot.The heat is evenly distributed and it was very easy to clean after i had poached some fish. This is a superb cooking pot with an impressive price for the quality. It has a good weight also and this should last in my kitchen for years to come. The only minor fault for me is the lip on the inside of the lid where the water tends to gather and not drain off on the dish drainer and if not washed and dried correctly this can harbor bits of food and/or bacteria.Highly recommended.
