Q: I'm seeing that the only way to control this is using the Hue app which doesn't run on older phones. Is there no other way to control it?

No ! Everything is controlled by the Philips Hue App by Bluetooth or by wifi with the a Philips Hue bridge. So it has no way to use it without one of them.

Q: What's the difference between Hue go? Is the design different?

Hi, I bougth different Hue lamp (Bloom), its not a matter about version, there´re just different, this one its portable an bloom is wired
