Easy read and clearly wrote book

My Orchid started blooming after I followed the well-written and easy-to-understand book's recommendations.

Good information tells you how to care for the orchids also tells you what wrong with your plant and hoe to get it to bloom again . Happy days

I am SO not a plant person, and have had terrible luck with plants in the past. So when a friend bought me a small orchid for my birthday last year, I feared I would kill it. I did my best to read up online, but my efforts didn't help much. But since getting this book, and getting the growing medium (bark), light and humidity right, sickly little phalaenopsis is now looking very happy, and she (I call her Delphine) is now opening her first bloom since losing them all after I first got her. And now a 2nd flower stalk has started to grow. I am am just now waiting to receive a transparent pot as recommended in the book. Very happy I bought the book. Also, the first copy of the book I ordered got lost in the post, and the vendor immediately sent me a new copy, which was wonderful customer service.

This book is an excellent resource for the novice orchid enthusiast. It has great information for growing, maintaining and helpful hints to get your orchids to thrive and be healthy. There are excellent pictures to support learning. Great information on different types of orchids and how to grow them. Plus a reference at the back to help diagnose troubles. Fantastic book- I would highly recommend it.

At first I questioned how useful this small book would be. I grew orchids 30 or so years ago but need a refresher before I restart my hobby. Things I wanted to know included: what orchids can be successfully grown in a home setting, temperature requirements, water and humidity requirements, light requirements, how to tell a healthy or stressed plant, common diseases and what to do them. Well, I found all of this information in these pages.The beauty of this book is the concise nature and superb organization of the information. It really does contain all necessary information to successfully grow orchids at home. No pages wasted on species that would need a freestanding greenhouse and a full time gardener. I can use the information to select the right room in my house as well as which species will probably thrive and which will be a challenge—and why.I was reminded of a dendrobium I had for years, mounted, but which never bloomed until I had just about decided to gift or discard it, when it bloomed to spite me.The only unanswered questions were best reputable places to buy orchids and how to tell which, of the two listed, type of dendrobium a seller has listed. Of course I could just ask if this plant prefers cool conditions or warm conditions.I bought another book at the same time. Way too big, lists too many species that will not thrive, and while the necessary information must be in there somewhere, it would be a nightmare to extract it in a reasonable amount of time.

Things go wrong, many photos that showed exactly what mine are doing & the recommendation to fix the problem. Repotted in the recommended material in the recommended planter, watering as often & as recommended & so far the plants are looking better. It removes the frustration of maybe I should try this? & having no idea if this will work & not getting results. The photos were helpful at lot.

The book arrived in perfect condition. The information is very easy to understand so I feel confident I can keep the orchid I received as a gift, alive.
