Incredible Vinyl AIC Facelift Album
The album arrived in perfect condition. Double vinyl. Very good quality on the vinyl, sounds perfect on my surround system.I first had this cd when it was released. Impressed by the band my friend and I went and saw AIC play onsunset strip in 1992. For some strange reason I was not expecting Layne to be able to hit all those notes live.I was quickly proven wrong and looked on in sheer awe as Layne went above and beyond those notes.Layne was up on the stage crouched like a gargoyle I was about 10ft from him just in sheer amazement. There was a small pit all around me, but I stood motionless in disbelief of what I was witnessing. My friend and I then went and saw them again in 93. Layne was such a incredible vocalist. This album brought me back to that 92 concert, not sure exactly who produced or re-mastered this album butit is one of the best I have heard. If you are a original AIC fan this is a must have Album.

Great Album - Arrived Case Smashed
Great album. Had this back when it originally came out…. on cassette. Lost the cassette years ago and now bought it on CD. The CD arrived in one piece. The case, however (shipped inside a white Amazon mailer padded envelope) arrived shattered beyond recognition. Mailer was alright so appears to have shipped in this condition. The modern world is not always the best.Replaced with the case from another album I had laying about…. But still….

Vinyl version sounds great!
Little to no surface noise, sound quality and dynamics are good, vinyl is pretty flat. They pressed the tracks on 4 sides with no center tracks, I assume to keep the surface speed up for quality playback - awesome! It would be nice to make this a gatefold and include poly-lined sleeves (paper sleeves with artwork and lyrics printed are included.) It is rare to find a well-priced quality pressing nowadays; I have to send about 50% of them back for replacement, not in this case though - nice work. From this vinyl version, I picked up a few nuances in the guitar and some random backing vocals I had never heard before in the 30+ years I have had with the material! Nice work on the mastering and pressing. The range is great, very clear highs and clean bass. Listening on Pro-Ject Debut Pro turntable / Pro-Ject Phono Box S2 preamp / Klipsch Fives mains / REL HT/1003 MKII subwoofer.

Very good debut
Alice in Chains' debut LP, Facelift, is a very good album and would point to the greatness that they'd achieve on their next release, Dirt. The best tracks on Facelift are the ones that hit radio which are also the first three songs on the album. "We Die Young" is heavy as sin with its sick groove and Layne Staley's menacing growl. "Man in the Box" would be the band's first "hit" and would feature the band's best hook with its guitar line duplicated by Staley singing the line. They would have bigger tracks after this but this has become their signature song. "Sea of Sorrow" is nearly as good and its delivery and pre-chorus are killer. Several other strong tracks comprise its second half such as the mid-tempo metal of "Sunshine" and "It Ain't Like That" while "Put You Down" and "I Know Somethin (Bout You)" actually groove more like Extreme at times until Staley's distinctive vocals come in. They didn't have the drama down at this point as some of the slower songs, most notably "Love Hate Love" and "I Can't Remember", drag at times. Facelift is a very good debut with one clear grunge classic and several other strong tracks.
