Quality Knives
These knives are beautiful quality and a pleasure to eat with. They are extremely sharp and just glide through the food. We have had them for a few months now and they are still razor sharp. The handles are a tiny bit short for my hands but I can forgive that as they are so beautifully made. They are quite heavy too. They come with individual sheaths and in a nice box. Not cheap but you get what you pay for and looks like they will last a lifetime if they are looked after.

Dalstrong made things right with my knives.
Edit; My initial review is below. The day after my review, the owner of Dalstrong personally emailed me and apologized for the not so sharp blades on the knives. He also explained to me that the problem with the sheaths is being addressed with a redesign in the future. It seems the products which are included in the packaging tend to rub the sheaths during shipping and causes the scuffs and scratches. So they are going to start using a rough surface on the sheaths in the future. Then he informed me that he was sending me a replacement set of knives, because of the issues I had with the initial set. And the order was placed with a two day shipping option. I received the knives today. I opened them and checked to see if they were indeed sharp. And they are. This set is much sharper than the first set. The sheaths are scuffed, the same as the originals, but it's nice to know that the problem is being addressed by the manufacturer. Overall, for the money spent, these knives are excellent. In fact, I would say they are the sharpest I have personally used to date. I will buy more Shogun Series knives in the future. And I definitely recommend them to anyone wanting a very nice knife, and a company who stands behind it's product. The packaging is incredible. We used them the day after they arrived and, honestly, I was somewhat disappointed because they weren't as sharp as I had imagined they would be when they arrived. I wasn't expecting to have to take them to get sharpened right away. They weren't dull, but they certainly aren't the sharpest knife. The knives look very nice. I love the appearance. And the feel in the hand is perfect - very well balanced and solid feeling. They are beautiful and an impressive addition to a table setting. This will be the set of knives we use when we host other couples for dinners. The sheaths were very disappointing. I would like to be able to use the knives, in the sheaths, for table settings, however, when they arrived they were all scarred and scratched pretty bad. So, they are not suitable for guests to see or use. Sadly we will set the knives out for table settings without the sheaths.I have been dreading giving this review because when I ordered the knives I was very excited about the purchase, and didn't want to have to admit that I was somewhat disappointed. I really was expecting to be 100% satisfied with these knives. I would like to be able to give this set five stars, but because of the knives being somewhat dull and the sheaths not being able to be displayed, I can only give them 3 stars. This doesn't mean that I would not recommend them to other people. The knives look incredible. Nor does it mean that I will not purchase another Dalstrong product, because for the money spent, it's still a fairly good deal, but, based on the set I received, I can't say they are top of the line knives.

Scalpel sharp
Insanely sharp, beautiful design, well packaged. Will buy again-and for those of you who believe that steak knives should be serrated- think again, this is a real steak knife. Slices through any meat with ease without having to saw it to shreds.

Quality steak knives that compare to the more expensive brands.
We have used these knives only a few times, but so far, we love them. I have a lot of the more expensive knives that I use for slicing, chopping, and most of the kitchen cutting jobs, but have neglected getting good steak knives that we use at the table. I did some shopping on Amazon, and thought that these knives seemed to be the best value for the quality. Most of the previous steak knives we had were serrated, but I was looking for something that would slice rather than tear. I also wanted knives that were made with VG steel as this is a harder steel that will hold the sharpness longer. They also have the Damascus layering that also adds to the strength of the blade and the ability to hold a sharp edge. Since these knives met all of my criteria, I decided to order them.Since I do tend to be critical, especially when I spend a lot of money on a product, I am very observant when I use the product. Since I have a few very expensive Japanese knives, I know that so much as a touch on a finger can cause a cut. Believe me, if anyone can get cut on a sharp knife, I can. The first time we put these on the table, I also used one to cut the fat off the meat I was cooking and cut some butter to put on a veggie. I accidentally bumped the tip of the knife on my thumb. When I looked at my thumb, I thought "Hmm, no blood - not so sharp". Then the blood started to flow. The knife actually made a good slice in my thumb with only a touch. We have since used these knives for steaks, roasts, etc., and I have also used them when I needed a smaller knife in food preparation. Since a good set of Shun knives cost twice this price, I am very happy with these knives. In my research, they can be sharpened to the 15 degree angle of the Japanese knives. I have not yet had to sharpen them, even though we have used them at least 2-3 times a week for about 8 weeks. So they do hold their edge for quite a while. .At this point, i would highly recommend these steak knives and will update my review if my opinion changes.:UPDATE 08/06/18:We have been using these knives a couple of times a week for 3 months, and as yet they have not needed sharpening. They are still working as well as they did the day we received them.UPDATE 09/29/18:We have been using these knives for 4 months at least 3-4 times a week, and as yet, I have not had to sharpen them. They are still cutting steaks and roast as easily as the day we got them. I couldn't be happier with these knives. At this point, we have disposed of all of our old steak knives.UPDATE 6/08/19:We have been using these steak knives for over a year, and, as yet, have not needed to sharpen them even though we use them at least twice each week. These knives have held a sharp blade for much longer than any of my expensive knives. They have definitely survived the test of time, and I would highly recommend them.UPDATE 3/16/21:I have to say, I still think these steak knives are amazing. We have used them for almost 3 years, and, as yet, I have not had to sharpen them. Granted, we don't use them every day (maybe twice a week), but I have other steak knives that need to be sharpened after being used only a few times. You can't go wrong with this set of steak knives.UPDDATE 06/27/22:We have had these steak knives for over 4 years, and still use them once or twice a week. After all this time, I have had to sharpen them only once. After sharpening, they cut as well as the day we got them.If this review was helpful for you, please click the helpful button.
