Simple, solid and reliable.
It is difficult to imagine a more simple device. Ideal as a teaching aid. The threaded base makes it very easy to install in exactly the right position. It makes a fairly loud 'CLICK' in operation but it is simple to dismantle and it would be easy to install a rubber buffer or two.

very handy
bought it to work a lock

Good little solenoid
Although rated at (maximum) 12 volts, the solenoid also worked well with a 9 volt PP9 battery, but didn't last very long due to the current draw by the solenoid. However, I found that it worked really well using 8 AA 1.2v rechargeable batteries as they provide sufficient current for a longer period of time. If you are using this device with an Arduino microcontroller (as I did), it is recommended that you use a separate power supply as the current draw could damage the Arduino.

Runs far too hot
Thought this might be a good actuator for a non-return valve I designed to a 100mm duct. Ok- good in terms of actuation by gets far TOO HOT after even a couple of minutes on a 12v supply- so much so you WILL burn your fingers (I know by experience). The (thin) cables also heat up away from the unit. Too much of a fire risk once installed, so unfortunately going to e-waste...

Much weaker than expected
The solenoid works reliably, it is just much weaker than expected and overheats easily. It certainly isn't outputting 5N.

Snappy!
These solenoids really jump, provided you operate them at the rated 12v. I have yet to work out what the thread in the two holes is - the drawings don't help - I have a couple of screws that fit but I've no idea what their thread is either!

Nice
Good solenoid, nice price.

Misleading description
The description states 5N force. That is only achieve once the actuator is fully pulled in against the end stop. The actual pulling force along the 10mm travel is about 0.5N Also shown as 300mA, whereas it draws about 1A at 12V and gets hot.
