From Oscar-winning director Paolo Sorrentino (This Must Be the Place, The Great Beauty) comes Youth starring Michael Caine and Harvey Keitel. The movie follows a retired orchestra conductor on vacation in the Swiss Alps with his director best friend as they reflect on their creative careers. While relaxing at a hotel spa, the conductor is approached by an emissary of the queen to return to London and conduct a concert for Her Majesty. Packed with sharp dialogue and a wide cast of unique holidaymakers, Youth is a vibrant contender heading into awards season. The soundtrack is full of songs by contemporary indie darlings including The Retrosettes, Bill Callahan and Mark Kozelek (as well as his alter ego Sun Kil Moon). Classical works by Stravinsky and Mercadante mix expertly with Paloma Faith and David Byme while composer David Lang features on the closing symphony track.

Great album for a great movie
This albums needs to be heard after watching the movie, otherwise you lose some of the sentiment behind each song, but after that, you will for sure want to have this album.

Not as I remembered....
I saw the movie and don't recall there being so many vocal pieces, was hoping for more orchestral music.

This is special sound for the soul.
Just see the movie and then buy the soundtrack. If it moves you, I think you are lucky.

Simply sublime
The film is as much about music as Youth and love and this is a great soundtrack. Some stand out performances and Lang's Oscar nominate Simple Song 3 is glorious. So too is the song "Just" which played over the closing credits. Subtle, unique and infinitely repeatable. If you liked the film, buy it and if you didn't see the film, buy it anyway and you'll watch the DVD!

I enjoyed this film
I enjoyed this film, I loved the music from the start all the way to the end , it is a film you can watch now and enjoy and in a couple of years you watch again and have the same feelings , it could become a classic.

Time for reflection?
Very thought provoking, deep, and yet uplifting. Good performances throughout. The ending is extremely powerful! See the film, the sound track is just a bonus.
