I have kids who have drawstrings on a LOT of clothing-- shorts, swim trunks, hoodies, sweats. I've discovered the power of the bodkin, aka threading tool. I have several, both metal and plastic. I've been happily re-threading hoodies and sweatpants. None of my tools, however, worked on a pair of swim trunks with metal grommets (see photo). I decided to try this style of tool. It did take some maneuvering, and I hope I didn't damage the tool (I had to bend it a bit, and now the plastic now is lighter in color where I had to flex it). Barely fit through the grommet. I had to undo the knots in the drawstring (using the tines of a metal fork helps a lot!). After removing knots, I had to slide the drawstring's end (like a shoelace end) through just one of the tool's loops and thread it through that way. It did work, took about ten minutes of effort but got the desired results. This tool is the only one I've found that fits through a grommet. Although I prefer the metal bodkins, for anything with a grommet, this is what you will need! You'll need to undo any knots in the drawstring first, but at least I was able to save the swim trunks. Recommend!

I used this on a couple of hoodies. I like them and they worked for my hoodies, but if the end of the string is too large and not soft, they are difficult to insert in the hole. Wish the hole on the threaders were bigger.

Used to use a large pin to weave ribbon or elastic through my sewing projects. Finally purchased these & wonder why I waited so long!!

Fair price and used to re install a drawstring in sweat pants

It was hard to place the drawstring through the hole in my shorts.

Wonderful tool. I'm happy I was able to find this. It has helped me fix so many clothes and bags that needed drawstring replacement.
