Functional, sturdy, and good value
I think this end table delivers value for the money, looks good, and is very useful in today's lifestyle. I looked at several end tables with charging/cord management capability and this one seemed best designed as a "Smartcenter." I like the fact there's some amount of hidden interior space along with the power strip. Cords and devices can be kept inside to charge, or devices can sit outside on the table top, with the cords running inside to the power strip. At first, I was a bit put off by the fact that the two parts of the table top have small bumper pieces that don't allow them to close fully. But then, I realized that this arrangement prevents the cords from being squeezed when the two sides are pushed together. While I'd recommend this table to anyone looking for furniture with a hidden charging center, they should be aware that this is sturdy, heavy pressboard construction. Assembly will take patience, time, and a good battery-powered drill as well as screwdrivers. Fortunately, the instructions are pretty good.

Wow, easy to assemble, looks great!
So, I bought this as a printer stand for my office. Not even noticing the drawer set up. The box showed up a day before originally scheduled. Just by the weight I knew this was a quality product. Yes it is engineered wood, but extremely dense one. Assembly was easy, with very clear instructions (with some amusing notes as well) - this item also comes with a power strip (which I did not expect). It also has mounting hardware for it and cable management. All in all, this is a great looking unit, that is well worth the price of purchase.

Sauder makes some great furniture when it doesn't have to be elegant.
We have Sauder desks, Sauder bookcases, and now this table. It fit our needs very well, providing an attractive stand to hold our DVD cases but also provide a place for my wife to plug in her laptop and cell phone. Sauder provides very clear instructions for their furniture and the end product is very sturdy. My only negative--and it really shouldn't be because I understand and appreciate why they do it--is the bajillion pieces of stryofoam in the packing. I will tell you this, Sauder is great at fixing problems though. We had a desk come to us that had the top nicked dead center during shipping. In no time, they had a replacement piece on the way to us at no charge.

Just what we needed!
When we switched out our two chairs for a couch in our loft we found that we needed another end table. I was happy to find that Sauder still produces items in the same color and style as the end table we already had. I was even happier to find this design. We didn't really have a place to stash our laptops when they're not in use, and I hated the clutter of electronics laying about. This table was the perfect solution, with the added bonus of a convenient power strip for recharging, and a cleaner look by being able to plug our lamp into it. The only negatives I find is that it would have been nice if the power strip had USB outlets, and if the strip would have been mounted along the side of the drawer and more toward the back of the unit, instead of right up front. As it is, there is wasted space inside because of the excess cord, and that cord's wasted length would have been put to better use outside the unit, since we need to use an extension cord to reach the nearest outlet in our home.

Great value, great utility. Perfect for my needs.
I've been searching for this product for some time and this fits the bill for me. I have many devices to charge and my wife has taken issue with the mass of wires exposed around my recliner which I have accumulated for the various devices I need to charge. The Sauder Carson Forge Smartcenter Side Table has a fairly large interior space which is exposed by sliding the top surface forward to expose the interior space. A power strip is included which attaches inside the interior space. The power strip cable is shorter than I would prefer, but it is likely perfect for many people. The overall design is exactly what I needed to "hide" the bulk of the wiring mess. The table top surface is fairly large at 22" x 25.6", which is great for me. If you prefer a smaller surface, Sauder does make different versions that are smaller. I don't know which ones Amazon carries. One thing I did not consider when I ordered the table is that it is HEAVY (61 pounds). The construction is extremely robust. The weight is manageable for me, but it might be an issue for some people. The assembly is lengthy, and a little tedious, but the instructions are very good. If you are good at following instructions, assembly should be no problem. It took me 2-3 hours (although I did take a few short breaks during the assembly process). One possible issue during assembly is that the weight of the various components as they are assembled can make them a little unwieldy, so it might be good to have someone available to help when fitting things together. I saw some reviews mentioning missing or mislocated holes which caused issues. I did not find that to be true for me. Everything fit together perfectly. I saw another review with a complaint that it does not contain a real drawer. THAT IS THE WHOLE POINT of this design!! The customer should know what he or she is buying! Another positive note is that the slides that permit the opening of the interior space are EXCELLENT! They are very smooth and sturdy and allow the top to slide forward even with considerable weight on the top. I was also very pleased that I appear to have gotten an outstanding price when I ordered. The price I paid was substantially less than the $159 price I see at this moment when I decided to write this review. The $159 is somewhat lower than buying the side table directly from Sauder, though. Not sure if the price changes often (I ordered less than a month ago). You might watch the price to see if it improves if you don't need it right away.

Love the idea, hate the table
We have had 4 of these and every one of them have fallen apart. Bought the first 2 had them for around 4 or 5 years and constantly had problems with them falling apart. Decided maybe we just had a bad set and bought a new one last January. It to has been nothing but trouble with it too. We have tried to reinforce them but that doesn't seem to help either. We really love the idea with the drawer that has room for storage and a power and USB strip in it. It just keeps falling apart. :-(

This is a really neat table. Everyone is very impressed when they see it and how it functions. It took us about 3 hours to put together. One of the pieces had a crack in it but we contacted Amazon and a new part was sent quickly. Thanks so much, we love it.

Love the end tables. Handy for charging phones and plugging in lamps. Just don't think you can assemble it in under 2 hours. And make sure no one pulls it open when there is a cup/ glass of liquid on top.

This smartcenter is really handy. We have about a DOZEN items in the house that need charging at any one time. We had things plugged in all over the house and were fighting over chargers. Now we have one central location so everyone knows where everything is. It sits right next to our living room couch so we can pull things out and use them while plugged in. They also look great and were very easy to put together (it just takes time). We've had them a few months and they do have some scratches and dings...they are MDF after all...but for the price, they are a good find.

ALL of my Sauder Carson Forge tables deserve a five star rating. Even when a few screws are missing and it takes a bit of time to assemble, these tables (I own three different) are AMAZING pieces of beautiful and functional furniture which would compare above most which cost hundreds of $$$$ more!!

we like the tables other than you have to watch they don't get wet because they will bubble
