Eye-opening, practical advice for creating effective visuals
As a technical writer, I try to incorporate effective visuals to accompany my text. Reading this resource, I've learned that I have instinctually been doing many things right, but also several key things wrong. I can point to this reference as justification for the graphics I use, with full knowledge that there is scientific evidence to back up my choices.

Great help for designing online courses!
I recommend this book for all online teachers. It has a very strong foundation in learning theory and helps to ensure that we design our courses to be optimal teaching tools.

Interesting and applicable, though a bit dated and could use a technical writer/editor
The content in this book is good although some of the research studies are a little dated. I especially found myself wanting more research on simulation and VR, a lot of the studies it quotes are from the '90s and early 2000s.As a teacher I don't think I was prepared for the tone of this book. It's heavy on the psychology and research study and takes until section 2 to do deeper dives into application. The content is great and I have a lot of respect for the writer after watching interviews with him and meeting other articles. That said this book can get really repetitive and could have benefit from a technical writer helping. I'd recommend to skim some of the more repetitive sections, especially the parts in the first section.
