Viola sororia are native to North Amercia. Viola sororia Freckles produces masses of fragrant pale blue flowers background freckled with purple spots from May to August Foliage is heart shaped and bright green. These Violets are excellent for naturalising in shady woodland gardens or herbaceous borders which are moist and well drained, with a humus rich soil. The exquisitely scented blooms make delightful cut flower posies. Easy to grow, prefers a shady location but will survive in sunny, constantly moist, easily draining location. Remove dead heads to encourage more flowers. Will not do well in dry soils. Can be cut back to the foliage base once the flowers are finished. This plant can be used in a container. If planting in a pot or other container. Use a good quality compost. Ensure you feed regularly as a hungry plant is a poor performer. We recommend Osmoscote pro 8-9 month applied in the early spring. One application gives all the nutrients the plant requires for the whole year.
