Wood Moisture Meter - Digital Moisture Detector Moisture Tester, Pin-Type Water Leak Detector Damp Tester Dampness Meter for Wood Building Material Firewood Walls Paper Floor (Yellow)

I purchased the digital wood moisture meter to measure the moisture content of firewood logs I have been seasoning. For this purpose this tool is excellent, I cant comment on its accuracy as I have no other meter to compare it with, but look about right when tried on kiln dried and fresh cut wood. It has a number of settings for different wood types, but for my use the hard/soft wood setting is sufficient. Product is well made, easy to use with a nice bright display, even comes with batteries. It can be turned off and also has auto off to save battery. It can also be used for damp in walls etc., and tells the temperature in C or F. it also has a hold and a max/min feature which i imagine would be useful for detecting damp in walls. Overall good value, addition to my toolbox. Disclosure - i was offered an Amazon voucher to give an honest review of this product which i am happy to do as this is a good product..

Recently I noticed the glass on my wood burner smoking up. Googling this it comes down to burning unseasoned wood. How do you know when woods dry enough to burn ?. After a lot of research I settled on the Tavool wood/building moisture meter and purchased from Amazon. Ordered the meter on Saturday afternoon, ridiculously it arrived promptly the following day on Sunday - amazing !! (If only Amazon ran the country !!!.) The Tavool meter came neatly pack with full instructions and Batteries. After 5 minutes reading the instructions, which incidentally are easy to follow even for a bloke who doesn't usually read instructions I was good to go. The tool is excellent giving immediate and accurate digital readings, easy to use and has a number of different usages including building dampness indicator for brick, floor, wood...etc and a temperature gauge. Overall a great product, very reasonably priced doing exactly what it's supposed to do. Highly recommended.

I was looking for a good meter for testing the dryness of logs and wood for my fire. I considered the too brand name Stihl meter but decided on this more sophisticated model. As a bonus, I can use it as a damp meter around the house and also in my rental property. It's pretty easy to use essentially you just stab the wood or plaster with the sturdy sharp points and the meter measures the resistance between the points and calculates the dampness. It does of course rely on the conductivity of the material being measured, hence two different strings for wood and buildings. There are different letter settings form A to J corresponding to different trees and the instructions list various woods and appropriate letters to set. However, for some reason although the list includes I and J, the arrow button just goes up to H... this despite I and J illuminating on the display on self test was switch on mode. Not sure why, hence 4 stars rather than 5.

With the log shortages last year and having logged my own pollarded Sycamore I wanted to check that the delivered stuff and my own logs were dry . Both were over 20% so glad I didn't burn them . Looking good now so will definitely be fine by next winter. This machine is easy to set up and use and hopefully is accurate .The readout is clear . You get a spare pair of probe pins which is great . It's just comforting to know you're not clogging up your flue and not polluting.

This unit has some great features, eg display lights up when taking a reading making it easy to use. Can set readings to record Max also can take multiple readings in an awkward location and it will retain the max reading when you review it. Also, seems really well made, And comes with AAA batteries and small screwdriver. ALL GREAT :)

This is a great gadget for a very reasonable price. The instructions are easy to use and works straight out of the box with no hassle. I experimented on some dry walls and got the low readings I expected. I then used it on a wall I know is very damp and the readings shot up. The device fits in the hand really well and the numbers are big and way to read. I recommend this to anyone looking for a cheap and easy to use product.

If your looking for a pocket sized, battery operated moisture meter, then look no further. The bright display is easy to read and will show % moisture content of wood or household walls, or Motorhome for that matter. It has calibration for any type of wood you may wish for, but my guess is you wont use that feature much. After all we are looking for major differences, is the wood suitable for burning or is their damp in my wall of floor. Absolute values should be left for a scientific piece of kit. Some reviewers have commented that the sensor cover is hard to remove...and it is. However, holding the meter in both hands and pushing their plastic cover away from you with both thumbs is the answer. Then it’s easy. Great buy.

This is a really decent bit of kit, I was impressed that not only does it come with batteries, but also a mini screwdriver to open the battery compartment which was a nice touch. The meter itself was very easy to use and has a whole load of functions that I have no intention of using (but presumably make it a more effective tool) as I am just checking the moisture content of wood I intend to burn. It certainly seems accurate and is easy to read.

Vor einigen Wochen haben wir einen Rohrbruch in der Wand festgestellt. Nach der Reparatur wollten wir überprüfen, ob die Wand gut getrocknet ist. Nach langer Recherche habe ich mich für das Tavool Gerät entschieden und bei Amazon bestellt. Es war selbsterklärend und einfach, ohne die Anleitung zu lesen, konnte ich sofort loslegen. Das Gerät ist ausgezeichnet, liefert sofortige und genaue digitale Messwerte, ist einfach zu bedienen und hat eine Reihe von verschiedenen Verwendungsmöglichkeiten und eine Temperaturanzeige. Insgesamt ein großartiges Produkt, sehr preisgünstig und genau das, was es tun soll. Sehr zu empfehlen.

Der Holzfeuchtigkeitsmesser tut exakt das, was ich erwartet habe. Durch seine 2 Modi (Holz-/Gebäudefeuchtigkeitsmessung) stimmt auch das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Die Steuerung ist einfach, kurz on/off drücken zum Anschalten und lang drücken zum Ausschalten. Die Modi sind auch mit einem Knopfdruck gewechselt. Die Nadelspitzen sind spitz und gehen dadurch durch moderaten Druck in das zu messende Holzstück. Die Feuchtigkeit wird bis zur Nachkommastelle gemessen und ein Lämpchen zeigt an, ob das Holz schon trocken genug zum Heizen ist. Einen Stern Abzug, da die Batterien im Lieferumfang komplett entleert waren, sodass ich das Gerät erstmal für defekt hielt.
