Repels mosquitos and no-see-ums
To me this soap smells like hotel soap, but if you can get past that initial odor, it does become more mild. The best thing about this soap is that it works. I have recently taken a job in the Bahamas, and within the first two weeks of being here, I had just over 200 bites between mosquitos and no-see-ums. I was absolutely miserable, to the point I had given serious thoughts to leaving. I ordered this soap because deet, used on me, seemed to have attracted the bugs to me more. I tried Swap Gator, No-See-Um repellent, Off, Off Active, and a few other things and nothing worked. As far as mosquitos go, I have not had one mosquito bite since I began using OSANA about 20 days ago. However, I do still get no-see-um bites. Osana gives me about 6 hours of coverage against the no-see-ums. After that, I will either wash exposed areas again or use Picardin or Avon Bug Guard. But with living here, I am incredibly not a fan of using chemicals 24 hours a day, so for the most part, I am sticking with the Osana soap.

Does not work. Extremely expensive
Let me start by saying I wanted this product to work. I was excited to buy this product. It does not work. I don’t live by the Nile in Africa or South America, I live in the midwestern United States and I walk my dog every night and am tired of getting bit. I’ve gone through 1 1/2 bars now of continued use and I get bit the same amount as before I started using the soap. I wouldn’t normally write a review but this product has such a large price tag it should work. I understand if a $10 pack of special soap doesn’t work but at $25 for 3 & 1/4 bars it should definitely work. It does not. Smells nice but doesn’t deflect mosquitos at all. Hope this helps.

Works most of the time
I reallllly like this soap but I don’t really think it works against mosquitoes.... maybe certain type but I used it to go camping and I still got bitten in Havasupai. But when I used this in other countries like VN or The amazon rainforest it works fine... so it might be different strands of mosquitoes? But it’s all natural, had a good smell and works for the most part.

Didn’t work in Mexico!
I liked the idea that I wouldn’t need to use any type of mosquito repellant, but I didn’t like that I did have to use it due to the fact that this soap did not repell mosquitos. I guess mosquitos in Mexico are actually attracted to the scent of this soap. I really hoped for the best by using this soap because of the few herbal ingredients in it. I personally believe in the healing factors that herbal remedies can provide. But I was disappointed in finding myself spraying every inch of exposed skin with the Off brand repellant, which in fact did the job and more, since mosquitos weren’t the only tiny bloodsuckers that I had to worry about in central Mexico. Although the mosquitos I saw in Mexico look like the ones I deal with in my garden in NYC, they are a dark black with white marks/stripes on their legs. But now I won’t be able to tell if the soap works in NYC because I will not buy this product again, especially since it’s over $8 a bar. So the fact that it’s pricey and didn’t work when I really needed it to is the reason I don’t endorse the statements made by the company.

I suffered with Mosquito bites all my life until now.
I have been using this for 2 years now. Recently on Vacation I forgot to wash my back (disgusting I know) however I suffered the consequences and had my usual horrific reaction to the mosquito bites all over my back - but not bitten anywhere else like my ankles etc. The soap smells so good I make the entire family use it - especially my 10 year old son so I can do the sniff test to see if he actually washed when in the shower! Brilliant company - especially with speed of written responses. I totally swear by this soap.

Mixed reviews on mosquito repellancy
I've really been giving this soap a good try. I am prime mosquito bait. I can't say I haven't gotten any mosquito bites since using it regularly especially on my arms and legs. However, I don't think I've gotten as many bites as I normally would. It's a pleasant smelling soap, feels nice on the skin and lathers well. Does it totally repel mosquitoes? No. Is it helping? I think so.

Don't waste your money
I almost never write reviews but this product was so disappointing I thought I should warn others not to waste their money. I wish I had taken the time to look at the other bad reviews. The claims this company makes are so far fetched and the price is so stupid high that I should have known but I was won over by their amazing marketing. Being a natural skeptic I don't usually fall for marketing, but alas, when a company claims that it is SAVING LIVES I guess I just want to believe! My husband and I really wanted this soap to work, but to make a long story short: IT DID NOT WORK.

They do recommend daily use and say that it works for 24 ...
We live in Central America, where the mosquitoes are plenty, and aggressive. Since we began using Osana soap we have had very few bites. Normally we also pair it with natural repellent creams/sprays, often that include UVA/B protection, such as Badger. I've used various sprays including citronella, though the soap seems to take repellent capacity to another level. They do recommend daily use and say that it works for 24 hours, so I assume that means the bites we have gotten were probably because we did not wash with it daily.
