Hornby R1254M GWR Freight Train Set - Analogue

This was a Christmas present for my 14 year old son. He has always loved trains and wanted one he could keep and add too. He set it up and it worked great for about 30 days then it just stopped working? We cleaned the tracks, and it's been on a table so not sure what's going on? So disappointed because it was Not a Cheap train set. And he has been so careful with it. So at this moment it's just something to look at- he's bummed!

I love this train. Loco is nice, decent rolling stock, colours work nice together. After some running in it seems to work quite well.As someone already mentioned before, the package was shipped unwrapped, which is a bit disappointing, especially for shipping to long distances.One of the tension couplings came slightly bent, which was an easy fix.The controller is bad in a sense that it produces a buzz sound in the loco and is not capable of making the engine run on a very slow speed. Luckily, after reading bad reviews about this controller, I've purchased much better Gaugemaster controller in advance, so the one that came in the set was discarded immediately. It might become handy for controlling other things on the layout.'Midimat' came with the package, located under the inner box, however, after expansion pack D it needs to be replaced with 'Trackmat', if the tracks are going to be expanded to packs E and F.The expansion pack A is already included with this set.Overall, very happy with our first train.
