Wonderfully written, good for almost any age. I, personally, gained a lot from reading this book. It truly helped me to look within myself for something deeper, to see things in a way like I have never before.Definitely recommend.

HIGHLY recommend
I cannot believe this book does not have more reviews! As a LMSW, I found this inspirational in my work for maternal mental health. It is well written, well-thought out, and the way the information is presented even challenged me to think in new ways, as a clinician.

Recommended reading for anyone TTC, pregnant, or postpartum!
When I was a pregnant and new mother I read all the books I could get my hands on about birthing, breastfeeding, and caring for my baby, but I never read up on postpartum depression (PPD). After having two babies of my own and experiencing perinatal mood and anxiety disorder (PMAD) I so desperately wish I would have had a tool like this book in my postpartum toolkit. The Postpartum Depression Workbook explains and describes both PMAD and PPD, she includes many useful tools and reframing exercises to work through them as well. The workbook is not positioned as an alternative to therapy, though it could work for many if therapy was not part of their journey. Instead, the book can work in tandem with therapy, medications if needed, and other self-care practices. If you’re reading this review and thinking that this book doesn’t pertain to you because you’re not planning on having a baby or you are already past the stages of early motherhood, I encourage you to reconsider. Almost all of us know folx who are in the stage of life of giving birth and the tools in this workbook can help you support those friends and family members who are in that stage. This is now going on my list of recommended reading for anyone considering or in the process of trying to conceive or currently pregnant or postpartum.

My new favorite go-to standard in the field
As a therapist working in the maternal mental health field, I have been waiting for a workbook like this for some time. It strikes the perfect balance between being helpful to the new mother/parent by presenting information in a way that is easily digestible, while also acting as a sound clinical resource that I can use to inform my work with clients. The tone of this workbook is relatable and encouraging, and it also feels up-to-date with discussion of various sub-populations of parents, such as BIPOC and LGBTQ+. I found the section explaining Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, i.e. challenging negative thought patterns, especially accessible. I have already used this as a resource with clients, and I expect that this text will become a standard in the field. I wish that someone had given me a copy of this in my fourth trimester!

Workbook
Second baby on the way, mother expressed concern for feeling depressed as evidenced after first baby. This workbook was one of many gifts to expecting mother and well received.

A lifesaver
I’m only 30 pages in so far, but it has been validating, empowering, and so helpful so far. It uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to reframe your thoughts and I feel like I’ve already learned a lot! I highly recommend it!
