A fantastic bio of Madame Curie by her daughter.
I devoured this book! Eve, a daughter of Madame Curie, did a fantastic job of her mother's biography. After watching the movie Radium, I found that the book fills in the many questions I had. Loved it!!

A book that should be read by every human.
Written beautifully. This book might as well have been from her very own perspective. It gave insight into what it was like to Iive under dictatorship, WW1, & one of the greatest scientific discoveries!

A determined life in pursuit of truth of our universe.
When you read this treasure, the extraordinary life of this scientist, all vanity and ego are brought down to the nanoscale. Role model among role model. Eve Curie explained in such rich details, what most scientific articles lack, the severity and love for truth and knowledge. I just finished reading this, while my heart is appropriately humbled, my mind is emboldened with courage. Every scientist, everyone should read this book to learn of a determined life.

so good. As a scientist
So, so good. As a scientist, I'm always curious about other scientists stories. This was really well written and inspiring. As a female scientist, it was really interesting to see how she got respected in a male dominated world and opened doors for other female scientists down the line.My one wish is to also read this in its original version, French, but Amazon currently does not allow ppl from America to purchase books in other language- something about copyright issues.

my favorite book
I have read this book several times since I was 13 years old. It has been and always will be my favorite book and her life has been a role model for me as a scientist, and engineer, a wife, and a mother. it is an amazing love story between Marie and science that is superbly written by her loving daughter. This book, like Madame Curie, is a one of a kind gem.

That the curies struggle under the French government .in spite of that they were highly successful .
I like this book because it was written by her daughter and Gand gave a lot of details about curies life .it was written on a personal level scientific enough but book was deep in family life.the book was informative about their discoveries about radioactivity and its future

A GENIUS WHO LOVED EVERTHING
Although at times this work seems somewhat tedious, this is a wonderful account of a dedicated, inspired woman. Her natural reluctance gave way to a great and important work. She loved her work, her family, and the natural world with an intensity rarely seen among we humans. Finally, she had a determination and will that allowed her access to her dreams. Loved this book!!

The heart aches and joys of Radium and the struggle to unearth their mysteries.
A must read. I've been around for over 70 years and know about radium and other radioactive elements from my love of science but I never realized how much went in to the discovery of these elements or of the heart ache and joy encountered. A very well written account of these discoveries and the people behind them. I could not put it down.

A recommendation from my grandmothers diary!
I have my grandmothers diary for the year 1942 - in so many passages she writes of this book, how inspiring it is, and that she cannot put it down.. So I thought I would send for it and was thrilled to see it was still available after all these years. One always knows about the Marie Curie nurses, but I had simply no idea of the life this lady lead and what greatness she achieved as a women and a scientist. All her life she shunned fame and money - even when she and her equally talented husband Pierre founded "Radium". They could have become wealthy overnight by patenting the product, but decided instead to share it with scientists all over the world. Only half way through - one amazing story - highly recommended

Hervorragende und sehr berührende Biografie. Unbedingte Empfehlung!
