First Epilady style is back!
I had one of the first Epilady back in the 1980's and really liked it. In fact, I bought a second one when the first 'gave out' after 5 or 6 years of continuous use. Really like the smooth result when using it - no scratchy stubble on legs. Even as hair grows back it remains soft and barely noticeable (and I have had dark hair). When I needed a third Epilady the original style was no longer available. I bought and used the 'new' style but did not find it as satisfactory -- took longer to obtain good results -- but it was better than shaving or other alternatives. It did remove underarm hair well, better than the original style. But when I saw the option to buy the first type Epilady again I did and am very happy with it. I would recommend using this type device to others although I know many think it hurts too much -- even my sisters and a couple friends who tried using the Epilady quickly gave it up.But nicks and cuts from shaving hurt and look bad too -- soooo. After a very short time I no longer even noticed any discomfort. This hair removal product has worked well for me for many, many years and I wouldn't be without it!

Already opened
Bought this for my mom who loved her old one. I'm disappointed my product was already opened. This product is $100 and i dont think something that you should by used. Very disappointed in epilady for misleading info. The sticker thar was supposed to seal it was nasty. Some xmas gift.

For someone used to waxing, this was surprisingly irritating to my skin
I've waxed my legs and underarms for years. I purchased the Epilady in hopes that I could avoid the expense of getting waxed by a professional and the mess of waxing at home. Not to mention, it's kind of a pain to wait between visits. I will say the epilady does work. It's kind of slow, because as you can imagine, you're not going over a very large area at any given time. I found it most effective on my underarms. My skin was not irritated, and being a smaller area, I would finish in very little time. My legs were another story. My upper thigh area it worked the best. The knee area seemed difficult, if for no other reason than the awkward angles. The bummer, and the reason for a two-star deduction, is because although it seemed to also work well on my lower legs (meaning, it did its job and pulled the hair), I would always end up with irritated bumps, almost like ingrown hairs. I gave it another go several weeks later, same result. I began really going after my legs every couple of days with a Buf-Puf exfoliating sponge. Tried again a few weeks later, same result. I honestly don't understand what the issue is because I've waxed for years without a problem. I tried a couple more times, but it's the same result. I suppose it has something to do with the direction the hair is being pulled...? I don't know. But I don't care to use it on my lower legs anymore. I still use it for underarms, though, so I don't consider it a waste of money. For those wondering about how painful it is, I'll be honest, I'm probably not the one to ask. I've waxed so long my hair is pretty sparse to begin with, and I'm used to any discomfort of waxing. I would say it's a bit more painful on the underarm than waxing, but it's negligible, not to mention it's such a small area, it just isn't worth fretting over. I wouldn't consider the leg to be painful at all, either upper or lower.

Great Addition to My Hair Removal Tool Arsenal
This is a great product for those who want to invest in a less messy alternative to waxing. While it does take some going over of the same areas, leaving some temporary redness and discomfort, overall I am quite satisfied with the Epilady Trio Coil. It has substantially decreased the time I spend on hair removal. I did notice it doesn't work well on areas where the hair has strong roots. Those I still wax. Words of warning to those who aren't wax fans - the Epilady is painful just like waxing.

Didn't work on my hair
This original epilady has so many good reviews, but it did not work for me at all. Did not grab the hairs on my legs, which are somewhat coarse and dark. However, I also tried it on my softer arm hair and it just didn't work.I tried passing this over the same hair a dozen times and it didn't grab it. Not for me.

It lasts for almost 4 weeks before I have new hair growth re-appearing.
My mother -in-law bought me my first epilady in 1996. I used it until it died on me several years later.I saw it being advertised on an American Airlines product magazine while flying one day. Checked with Amazon and found their price comparable to the supplier but of course I got free shipping with Amazon so I purchased it from them.I do not use razors. I only use Epilady Tri Coil Epilator on my legs, arms, bikini area, and underarms. It lasts for almost 4 weeks before I have new hair growth re-appearing. I will never use any thing to remove body hair except this epilator. At first use you can feel the hairs being pulled with the epilator and it almost stings and makes the skin itchy for a few minutes, but the body soon adjusts and becomes tolerable. It does pull a lot of the hair from the roots though some break at the skin. Bikini area hair has to be trimmed a little before using the epilator.Sometimes I use it on my upper lip and chin but it still leaves the fine hair that has to be waxed to achieve a clean look. They do have a smaller epilator for upper lips and chin but I have not purchased it.
