MAONOAU-903 Desktop Podcasting Microphone USB-C Kit

I bought this microphone as an alternative to using a headphone / microphone combo for presenting. I was presenting at a couple of events over the summer which due to COVID-19 had become remote only and I needed to up my audio game. This is perfect for gaming, podcasting, webinars, conference calls etc.tl;dr this is an awesome microphone, great value for money and I highly recommend it.The packaging and build quality for this microphone was a very pleasant surprise, and certainly more than I would expect at this price point. It is well constructed, feels sturdy in the hand and is heavy enough to stay in place on the desk. The finger-screws on the side work well to hold the mic at the exact angle you want.I sit my mic in the middle of my monitors and use it daily for zoom etc calls. The cardioid pattern switch allows me to minimise the amount of additional noise that is picked up without impacting call quality. The local monitoring option was key for me as I use Shure sound isolating in-ear monitors when presenting and this feature was essential for me so I could hear myself and not shout! It works just as you would hope with no delay and the option to control the volume. This is also a handy feature for zoom calls etc where you just set the mic as your output device, plug in some speakers and you are done.Other people love this mic. Lots of positive comments on the audio quality. The gain option is great to further include this during the call / recording.I bought this mic in July 2020 for £70 and have no regrets.

I'm really pleased with this purchase. Having vlogged for two years I've been looking for a mic which could be used for podcasts or sit-down-in-the-office style videos. The Maono AU-903 is simple with a well thought through design, featuring the front gain and headphone control (something I particularly appreciate with monitoring). To the rear you have the option of a headphone input and two polar patterns. The difference between cardioid and omnidirectional is noticeable (this is a positive, especially as a speaking mic) and means I no longer need to use a tie mic, which from time to time distorts. The mic is a good size, fits neatly on my desk and most importantly, vocals have great clarity. Right now I the mic is picking up clarity of my keyboard being tapped and ambient sounds outside. When ordering I didn't realise that you could remove the base of the mic so that it can be hung radio style for interviews. And while I have never heard of the Maono brand before, I am impressed and would recommend for a quality but affordable mic. Great job Maono!

I wanted to like this mic, I really did. It looks good, it's easy to set up, has all the features I need and very sturdy construction. But the sound quality is truly awful. There is a terrible loud hiss that remains unchanged, whether the gain button is turned all the way up or down, regardless of what device it's plugged into. I even tried a different cable in case that was the issue. No difference. Even after editing out the hiss in post prod, the recorded audio quality is worse than the built in mic on my phone. So I have given up and paid the extra for a Blue Yeti. And it is absolutely worth it. I may have been the unlucky recipient of a faulty unit here, but I can only speak as I find.

This product works great. good sound, nice solid construction. looks really cool. Initially had a small problem with installation as it installed as default microphone and speaker so wasn't getting any other sounds but a click in windows sound settings fixed that.The only annoying feature...The mute button is very noisy both mechanically and in the audio signal.I initially thought the base thread was a non-standard one in my hast to set it up. But it has a standard 5/8" ANS female thread inside the larger one that connects with the provided base. I've now upped my rating to 4 stars

The media could not be loaded. I bought this microphone and had no Idea what to expect, When it arrived it was well packaged. The microphone is excellent value for money. You get 2 cables a usb c to usb c or micro usb and Usb c to Usb. I like the sound quality, It has two polar switchable patterns, the omni directional option is the best and clearest. An excellent value for money. The microphone has a headphone output so you can monitor your sound. This mic is excellent. Get yourself one.

The media could not be loaded. The quality of this mic is Crazy - but don't take my word for it - check my unboxing and review video and the difference between this mic and my built in stock laptop mic. The difference is literally night and day. Brilliant for podcasting game streaming and that stuff there.

The unidirectional function does not work

I bought the microphone to replace my crappy £30 microphone and it has done me justice. The microphone is completely on par with the blue yeti and blue snowball for a really decent and affordable price. I use the microphone for streaming, recording and podcasts with no filters and it sounds incredible.Highly recommend the microphone to anyone looking for a decent and affordable microphone.
