My new standard!
Excellent yerba mate with subtle, earthy flavor and very low bitterness or acidity.I prioritize the effect of yerba mate over everything else, and this mate gives me a clear mind, uplifted mood, and clean energy. I can drink it later in the day, like 4 hrs before bed, and it doesn't keep me awake like coffee would. As a bonus the taste is perfect.I drink mate about 5 times a week, and one package here lasts me about 1 month.Amazon is suggesting these categories here:Value for money: Excellent. I used to buy Anna Park, which is very good mate, but it's $18 for 500 grams, while this Tucangua is $23 for 1000 grams.Size: Large, 1 kg is plenty and it lasts me a month as statedTexture: Perfect. Good balance of leaves and finer powder with some short cut stems (1/4"). With proper preparation (covering the gourd and shaking upside down to get the finer particles at the bottom, and allowing cool water to settle the mate before inserting the bombilla) I get zero clogging or particulates coming through.I really rate this mate 10/10 and I will continue to buy it as long as it's at this price point and in stock! This is my second order already. Please keep it in stock :)For context I spent time in Argentina and this is the best cost/quality ratio I've found for exported yerba mate.

Tastes Like Being in Argentina
Product is Tucanguá Organic Yerba Mate Loose Leaf Tea Traditional South American Tea Drink 2.2 lb 1 kg.I learned to drink mate in Argentina with Portenos. This brand is delicious, organic, and has a wonderful bouquet you don't get from US mate. I also like the brand with the grasshopper on the label. Viva Peron!

My favorite Yerba Mate brand
Of all the Yerba Mate brands out there, this is my favorite brand. There are other cheaper brands out there, but this is a great quality brand. If you are NOT familiar with Mate, it is like beer, but ONLY in the sense that it is an acquired taste. It is very bitter and is best enjoyed using a “Poro y bombilla” (Gourd and straw). I personally use a French coffee press so I can brew it, put it in a coffee mug and leave on the go. It’s up to you how you enjoy it.Again, as I already stated, it is very bitter and IS an acquired taste. It took me awhile to get to where I truly enjoyed the taste.¡Que disfruten mateando on sus amigos!

Great Value, Some stems and smoky aroma
The Yerba Matte comes tightly packed in the bag so prepare a larger container than you think you'll need if you're planning to open the bag and transfer it to glassware. The flavor is excellent and not too bitter in my opinion, but I did notice a smoky aroma when brewing the tea. There are quite a few stems in the mixture which you can see in some of the product photography. The labels on the package are not in English and aside from the sellers word, I don't know of a way to verify whether or not the product is smoked.Overall this is a great inexpensive way to try Yerba Mate but I'll likely try other brands in the future once I use up this initial order.

Found a keeper
Fairly new to drinking Mate and this is my third bag of trying to find one that I really like. Before Tucanguà I had tried EcoTeas and Cruz de Malta, both of which I found were super bitter and just not too pleasant tasting. I even sweetened both with a stevia packet. I think with this bag of Tucanguà, I finally found a keeper. It’s not bitter tasting at all and is very smooth and no need to add stevia if I don’t want to. Will definitely be buying again and probably only this brand from now on. Plus it’s organic so there’s that too.

Abundance of flavor
Originally my husband ordered this to use as a less expensive substitute for our regular brand. We were both suprizes at the quality and quantity we recieved. We brewed he yerba leaves with the same measurements we would use with our other brand, but the tea it had produced proved to be much darker in color and with a surprisingly pungent flavor. The yerba leaves oils are quite abundant, giving much more mojo to our day than our previous experiences with other brands. Will be ordering again!

A Great Yerba Maté
The Argentinian is a fine vendor to bring another great mate to the Amazon table.Tucangua yerba mate is a superb yerba, more complex than the equally fine La Oberana, Anna Park, and the elegant Liebrig, which he also sells on Amazon. I can understand why this was not to one reviewer's taste, because many yerba maté drinkers, and many American consumers are looking for smoothness, and not something exotic. And there are so many different varieties of taste in yerba maté among the many, many brands. Each to their own.Tucangua reminds me very much of a Paraguayan yerba, La Rubia, although more delicate. It has the complex combination of plum, tobacco, and hay, and many other flavor notes that is an acquired taste, but once acquired a uniquely enjoyable one. This yerba has character together with smoothness. Delicious.

Very Disappointed
I’ve recently become very fond of Yerba Mate and have been trying to find a good organic brand to order from. I was hoping to like this one considering all of the positive reviews, but when I first tried it in my French press, it didn’t steep very well. It seemed very watery compared to the other brands that I’ve tried, and I made sure that the temp was the exact same. I even tried tempering the tea with room-temp water to see if I could “open in up” but to no avail. It was watery and weak- I could barely even taste the mate, and so tried it about a half dozen times.I hope that I just got a bad batch or something because I wasn’t impressed at all. Now I’m debating whether to throw the rest away or what to to do. Can’t say I recommend this one.
