Classic Story and Excellent Art
I have seen several versions of the story on TV but I was blown away by the art of Virginia Lee Burton in adapting this Hans Christian Anderson fable. For us visual types the art helps frame the story. It is also cleaverly done when the emperpor is looking in the mirror the angle is such that we see what the empoer sees. It is a great story for early elementary teachers (grades 1 and 2) to read aloud to their reading groups. It is also a good story for remedial English learners because it is an interesting story and the vocabulary is straight forward. It woulld be an excellent project for student teachers to use for any of their reading class projects. As with all fables it has a moral without being religious.

Great little story. Glad to find it.
Such a cute story about a foolish person who a child could see through even though adults refused to acknowledge the truth. Love it. Thanks.

Love the illustrations and the story!
I have always loved this story! So much depth in a small book for children. The Emperor's vanity causes him to make a fool of himself in view of all his subjects. He wants to impress others so he, and all his advisors, pretend to see the invisible cloth that can only be seen if you are wise and worthy, according to the weavers. An innocent child is the only one honest enough to say, "The Emperor has no clothes on!" The world is full of hypocrites. Few of us have the courage and honesty to say, "The Emperor has no clothes on!"

Emperor has no clothes
Is book is important for children to read, sense adults use it for analogies. I don’t believe that will end. It was amusing to see how shocked my daughter was at the end.

A beautiful book. The book is certainly timely.
This story is so appropriate given the current political climate. Truly, the Emperor has no clothes!

About what you'd expect
I mean, I think everyone knows the story. So there's not too much to add. I've seen different versions of the story before that I liked better, but this one does the job (paperback).

Virginia Lee Burton's illustrations set this version of the classic apart from the rest.
Most everyone knows the story of the Emperor's New Clothes but what sets this book apart from the rest is Virginia Lee Burton's whimsical illustrations. It's fun for you and your child to just sit and examine the drawomgs. There is so much going on that you can make side stories from the pictures alone. Miss Burton was a true genius of her craft. The story itself is well told and this book will be a keeper in your child's library.

I don't really like the way it is translated to english
I don't really like the way it is translated to english.Translation made it so hard for a 6 years old kid to get this wonderful story.I owned a simple version 20 years ago and it was my favorite story.Drawings in this book are just ok and kind of not eye catching for kids! buy this story for your kid but from a different publisher!

An old prophetic Classic as it turns out
Trumpet sound bringing me back to the innocence of my childhood. "But there's nothing there at all!" said the child.
