Patons Classic Wool Yarn, Rich Raspberry

If you need yarn that frays, look elsewhere.Seriously, if you want a warm, soft yarn that can stand up to an excess of abuse, then this is a fabulous option. The price is great. The quality is great. It’s sturdier than it has a right to be. Most of the time, that’s perfect.It’s perfect if you’re learning to knit, crochet or weave. Incidentally, it’s sturdy and doesn’t stretch much under pressure so weaving would be a fine application for this.It’s perfect if you already now how to do any of the above and are working on a project. It’s a minor pain if you want to do a felted join for these but weaving in ends is a viable alternative there.It’s a massive pain if you’re trying to learn nalbinding, where you need to do a felted join every two yards and the thing won’t feather, won’t fray, won’t do anything akin to splitting apart without a major fight.I have been abusing two yards of this yarn for about a week, topping two hours a day, messing up a starting Oslo chain, then working it back (you can’t just rip out stitches in nalbinding, you have to work back each loop one at a time). I would have worn most yarn to a frazzle by now, but this is holding up better than I could have expected.I gave up trying to fray the end well enough it looked like it could do a felted join by hand and ended up using a comb on it.

Needed this yarn to add design to a sweater l had started years ago. Misplaced this color. I could online find this brand online, so l could keep with all the existing yarns. Good price for both yarn and shipping, fast .

I have never used a wool yarn before so my opinion may not have as much weight as more experienced people but I really did enjoy working with it!

It is getting more and more difficult to get this beautiful Paton's yarn. Mine arrived promptly and in perfect condition.

My only complaint is that I was looking for a deeper red and it's really a true red. But very nice, thick wool for an Aran duffle coat

Quality yarn

I was looking for 100% wool yarn to knit slippers that will be felted. Reasonably priced wool yarn is hard to find. My local Michael's only had Paton's bright red. I had used cherry red for part of the slipper but Paton's no longer carries that color. This claret red worked out great!

yarn was close to my original dye lot purchase...needed one more skein to finish project and the yarn was as expected to match.

I knitted a hat with this yarn. The color can match any clothes. But feel it is not like pure wool with softness and elasticity and warmness. Good price.
