OVERTURE Rock PLA Filament 1.75mm, Marble PLA, 1kg Rock White

Really enjoy these Overture Rock PLA Filaments. They print well and look great. I have made some sections of a mini crawler course with it for my 1/30 and 1/24 scale RC Crawlers. Printed on a Bambu Labs P1S. No bed adhesion issues and no feeding issues.

OVERTURE’s Rock PLA has been a great addition to my filament lineup. I print a lot of tabletop terrain, and these colors give the pieces a really nice stone-like look right off the printer without needing paint. For a lot of my terrain, that basically makes it print-and-play. Compared to some of the other matte “rock” style PLA options out there, the price is really solid. Honestly, I wish I had started buying OVERTURE sooner. I haven’t had any issues with filament diameter, the spools have always been wound well, and I’ve had very little trouble with brittleness. One of the bigger surprises was that I had a spool sitting open in my office on an AMS Lite for months. I turned the printer back on, started printing, and it ran without skipping a beat. I’ve used multiple colors of this filament now, and it has been very dependable for terrain prints.

All of the rock pla filaments from overture have been fantastic. The shorter transition cycle and beautiful palette of colors really make projects pop, especially when used for detail color on projects. The gradient adds so much depth. A bit more brittle than bambu, eSun, and sunlu filaments, only an issue on small-small parts though. Also, have had some bed-adhesion issues where thin-wide parts pull up on corners. Slowing down first layer print times, using a wide brim or on a petg raft fixes this. Overall: I recommend this filament line.

I purchased this to print some terrain for the new Battletech Aces: Scouring Sands box set. The filament prints well without jamming and gives a good quality print. I love the layering of the colors and it really looks like something you'd see in the desert. My only complaint, and this isn't something you can do much about, is that because of the way the colors are mixed the color striations end up being different from print to print.

I used this filament in several projects and I was impressed with the quality. The texture imitates stone in a very realistic way and gives a differentiated finish to the pieces. The printing was consistent, without blockages or failures. The grip between layers was excellent. I recommend it to those who want to create unique and professional pieces.

My understanding is that this not a real wood filament, which would only be a problem if this didn't have such a lovely texture. My biggest gripe with a lot of filaments containing calcium carbonate (e.g. marble/rock) or wood is that they often still result in a shiny and obviously plastic texture, but this has a gorgeous matte finish. The Jarrah color prints slightly less red than it appears in the photos and on the roll, but still results in fantastic color, texture, and overall aesthetic similar to terracotta pottery. All in all, it was well worth the sub-$20 price. Overture also nailed the stock profile in orca: The temperature tower I printed on my centauri carbon (with a hardened steel nozzle) had optimal adhesion without stringing at a temperature of 220° and printed reasonably quickly for an abrasive filament at a max volumetric flow of 16mm/sec. The optimal temp for my Qidi X-Plus 4 was 225°, so I still recommend doing a quick temperature tower beforehand to get the best results.

HIGHLY Suggest using a COLD PLATE if you're having ADHESION issues with this. That's all, I was tuning the flow, temps, etc, but adhesion was an issue, even with glue and hairspray. Once it sticks, and you have all the other settings dialed in, this stuff prints beautifully with a .6 nozzle (hardened).

Overall a good filament but not the easiest to work with. Some issues with adhesion with smaller parts and some bubbles/chunks, both possibly related to whatever texture additive for the "rock" PLA. Colors are really nice, not as vibrant as shown in the pictures but the better for it. It's a unique rainbow based on my experience and a nice balance of the various colors. Would recommend if you're willing to put up with some optimization work.
