This this is great--but make sure your expectations are in line
This is a very well built, and apparently safe little heater. It's important to keep in mind, that it takes a lot of electricity to make heat energy. If you're comparing it to something that uses some kind of gas as a fuel, you'll probably be disappointed. For example, a typical furnace for a small home here in the Northern US is 100,000 BTU. This is a 17,000 BTU unit. So you need to expect well under a fifth of the output of a small natural gas furnace.Keep in mind too, this is forced air. So when you put your hand in front of it, don't expect it to feel as hot as a radiant heater. Now, all that said, it does work great for what it is. Taking the edge off in a cold garage. If insulated, and the outdoor temp isn't too cold, you might even get a nice temp similar to indoors. If you're in a warmer climate, this thing could work wonders for you.Safety wise, there seems to be a temp sensor right under the main element. If it gets warm as a result of the output being blocked, it shuts the heater down. This happens quite immediately and is very sensitive. If you put something in the path of the air current, it will almost immediately cut back. This is exactly what you want to happen. It's built solidly, and because of the forced air nature of it, nothing about it gets terribly hot to the touch.Great for the price, seems to be safe, just make sure your expectations are in line for what's possible. It's an electric heater, not a natural gas or propane furnace.

MY FRIGID MIDWESTERN GARAGE HAS MET ITS MATCH (AND LOST)!!!
It had appeared to me that this was a quality heater from the pictures and description, and I hoped to not be disappointed. I can honestly say that I have been delighted with its performance. It was extremely easy to install, and came with all necessary mounting hardware. It requires a 220 outlet, which I was able to install with relative ease as well. The unit is lightweight, relatively quiet, and puts out gobs of heat. It heats my two-car garage in the space of an hour or so to a point where I am comfortable in a t-shirt. We had sub-zero weather for a few days, and I never even knew it. I was working on my cars as if it was a calm May evening.I don't pay an electric bill, so have this running nearly around the clock. It has held up wonderfully, and has no sign of tiring. I would give this heater a sixth star, if I could.

Disappointed Across the Board
I purchased this heater for my father so he could have some heat in his garage during the winter. I returned the first unit because it did not produce any heat. The fan worked, but the output air never even got slightly warm. It also appeared that the heater had been returned before, as the cord twist tie was loose and several screws and washers were floating around in the box.Based on the many positive reviews, I exchanged the first heater for the same model. The replacement also appeared to have been previously sold based on the condition of the packaging and loose hardware in the box. a screw and washer needed to attach the handle were missing, although the washer did show up later when it fell out of the heater when I went to repackage it for return. While this heater did produce heat, the fan was defective and had a loud noise that sounded like a bad motor or bearing.Since I wasted enough time on this project, I will not be getting a third unit. This manufacturer definitely needs to improve its quality control.

Wrong Plug!
I bought this as a Christmas gift to me for my 8' X 30' hunting cabin. I bought it based on the picture of the plug. Like the other guy said, the picture is wrong. The pic shows a 20 amp plug and this heater is a 30 amp has a different plug and requires a different receptacle. Now I either have to return this or replace my electrical stuff in my trailer, not sure what i'm gonna do at this point. I want to keep this because it has a higher BTU output and does not have the thermostat like the 20 amp one does that the one guy said keeps shutting on and off by itself. I wish they were more careful in their descriptions so the customers don't have to go through the trouble i'm going through. We'll see what happens.......not sure yet how much money it's gonna cost me to replace my electrical components in my trailer to get this thing to work properly. Will send another review when I get it figured out.

Best heater I've ever had
It cost me over $200 to run 240 volt power to the garage, but I love to work on stuff, and I was cold. After spending that money, I didn't have much left for a heater. I bought this because it was cheap. At this price point, I could replace it every year.It heats the garage by 30 degrees in just a couple of hours, and the fan is STRONG - no jacket needed. I was SO impressed with the heat output, last year.So.. imagine how impressed I am this year, when IT STILL WORKS! 2 months into this winter, and it still works just as well as it did last year.Best heater ever.

The heater works well and meets my expectation. It was a little disappointing to see that the heater nameplate did not match the advertised wattage of 5000 Watts. The nameplate list the output as 4800 watts at 240 volts. The plug shown for the 5000 watt heater does match what is shown in the picture. It is rated for 30 ampere, 250 volts. I picked up a stocked receptacle from the local store.Leviton Receptacle Outlet Kiln Oven Welder 6-30 5372 30 Amp, 250 Volt, NEMA 6-30R, 2P, 3W, Flush Mtg Receptacle, Straight Blade, Industrial Grade, Grounding, , Side Wired, Steel Strap,
