This range extender is pretty good. It was pretty easy to set up. Unfortunately, for a several hour period, it simply stopped working for reasons unknown to me!I unplugged it for several minutes (my daughter told me it was really hot!), then once I plugged it back in and left it overnight, we found out it was working again this afternoon!My wife checked her phone and told me it was up and working, again! WHEW! GLAD it was!Well, save for that hiccup, it seems to work good. Time will tell how well it holds up.Thank you for reading this review! ☺️UPDATE I have owned this for barely 3 months, now, and thanks to the power going out (for unknown reasons), it apparently decided to give up the ghost very suddenly! I just wish quality control in China was better- you never know whether you will get a good quality product or something ready for the dump straight off the assembly line! BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!

I'm sorry but I have to give this product a thumbs down. It did not work for me and never got past one bar. The setup wasn't too bad, but the directions could be better AND they could have provided a longer ethernet cord! I've never seen one so short in my life!!! That was a cheap move on the part of the company. I'm not sure how this product got good ratings because my house is not big and I even put this booster within feet of the router and it never got past 2 bars. Why?? I will be sending it back.

Item was recognized by network for approximately 5 minutes after plugged in. It took an obscene amount of tries before I could even connect to the Admin page. Once I did and began the set up the connection broke and the Repeater would no longer appear in the wifi networks list. Tried numerous resets to no avail. I went outside Amazon to check other reviews and found several negative reviews about this product from individuals who had the exact same problem I had. I am not a novice so this isnt coming from a customer with a lack of technical knowledge. I would not recommend this product

This unit can perform several functions. I'm using it as a wifi extender to extend wireless from one house with Internet ... to another without ... using a well-placed wireless router (in a window) and this extender.When the extender works, it works well. However, it periodically locks up -- and when this happens, it must be factory reset and then set up from scratch. Once you know what you're doing with the unit, this only takes 5 mins, and since the unit is accessible, it's not a huge deal, right now. However, I WILL be replacing this with something that's hassle-free.I checked to see if firmware updates were available ... and the unit came with the latest ... meaning there appears to be nothing available, firmware-wise, for a fix as of this writing. A pity, as I rather like this thing other than the annoyance of having to factory reset it periodically and then set it back up. :(

I've bought two of these because the first one worked...for a while and I needed the additional coverage. But they both have the same issue. After several days or up to 3 weeks they have both stopped working. The wifi signal is there, but not the internet. The only way I've found to fix this is to reset them. And that isn't easy. The instructions say to do it a certain way (plug in and press reset button during start-up for 3 seconds, though the internet tells of other versions for similar models), but I've tried that way and multiple combinations and my success in resetting them is at around 5% of all attempts. What works one time in duration or when you press the reset button won't work the next time. Finally, after attempting to reset this one again for a period of over 40 minutes, I couldn't get the extender to show up on my network at all. It just disappeared entirely and never returned. That one is being returned. The only reason I haven't returned the other one is because I did get the resets to work each time...so far. But it's too much trouble and I won't be getting this again.

I just installed this repeater. Setup was easy however, according to a wifi frequency analyzer, the repeated 2.4 GHz channel sits on top of the original 2.4 GHz channel even when there are empty channels. I need to log into our wifi modem to move channels to reduce interference. Also, the 5 GHz repeated channel is different than the original 5 GHz, but disconnects and drops off repeated. The 2.4 GHz repeated channel is more stable.I will update this review on perceived performance and speed.

This is my second device. The first one I received would stop broadcasting 2.4 and 5 SSIDs after a few days. Default settings in advance settings shows China. I tried to change to US. The second device I received after talking to Amazon tech support "which had no idea how to support", would not broadcast 2.4, reset several time no change. I do not recommend purchasing on of the Halaway wifi repeaters.

I had high hopes for this but was very disappointed. The instructions we not clear and missing key steps. Ironically, the FAQ included their major glitch: cannot connect to IP :) Every try required a reset to be able to reconnect. Also, there are two modes that you only discover after finally connecting: router or extender. Yet its not clear which should you use in what configuration! Look I'm a pretty tech savvy guy; this doesn't need to be this difficult to set up.After my set-up, the WiFi worked great when you are near the extender but it killed my WiFi away from it which should pick up the original router.I want to return this but unfortunately I got busy and forgot it in the box. Now its past the return timeline. Don't waste your money, energy and well being Just invest in a nice eero mesh WiFi
