Finally, what I was looking for - BUT!
Was about to design a device like this for our Mum, being the mechanical ones tend to wear out after a year, and the other digital ones have fiddly buttons. Found this, and ordered it yesterday and it arrived by Prime today - great service Amazon! However, although ALMOST perfect, it has some serious flaws that confuse an ageing person. Anyway, enough about me...1. Text on the red one that I ordered is hard to read. (Yes, it matters.)2. When the timer is running, if you decide to abort the timer, pressing the Reset button at the top does nothing! This is illogical. The only way to stop the timer is to press Start! Why doesn't it say Start/Stop? Remember, we're dealing with the elderly here who expect things to be literal. As they should be.3. The beep is not very loud, and the manual doesn't say whether it ever stops beeping. Will it drain the battery?4. The display is a tad too small for ageing eyes, and/OR could do with a backlight that comes on when a) You're adjusting the dial. b) The alarm is going off. (The latter would drain the battery, so perhaps a little red LED for those hard of hearing?)5. The dial, whilst superb in operation, is plasticy and not very grippy - better if it had a rubber surround.6. The buttons are in fact part of the front of the case itself, very clicky and cheap feeling, Brabantia, you have a great product concept here, but rather than get some cheap Chinese bits, do your thang and case it properly and use two proper clearly labelled tactile push buttons.Other than that, the dial + digital display is just what I wanted, but the above issues should be dealt with because it's vital to KISS! (Keep It Simple Stupid.)Am a product designer BTW!

A neat take on a kitchen timer
This is a neat take on a kitchen timer. I like the fact that it has magents on the back, so it can be placed on the hood above the hob. No clip means it's not going to get broken (like the last one - which did last over 10 years). The colour brightens up the kitchen. The twisting to set the time is what makes this different, and it's worthy it over the cheaper alternatives. It's a shame that it uses a coin cell, rather than a standard AA. You have to take out the plastic strip to start it working. Hopefully it will last a long time before needing another battery. Compared to the previous timer the numbers are smaller and the beeps quieter, but the novelty of the twisting to set the time and clear thought that's gone into the design are clear winners.

Good kitchen timer
This is a good digital timer and does the job it’s built for well. Display is a good size and it’s easy to quickly adjust it for the time setting you want. My only slight complaint is that it doesn’t automatically turn the display off when it’s idle - you have to remember to turn it off to conserve battery life. It does come with a battery in the box, but the one in mine was nearly flat on opening so don’t rely on it.

Looks pretty but functionality a bit clunky
I somehow thought this would be wonderful because I thought Brabantia are such a good brand - but actually I was a bit disappointed. The timer not that simple / intuitive. Awkward to turn off (have to hold down for ages), and although I love the colour and simple design, the stick on magnets on the back unstuck after a few weeks so it now loves in a drawer.

Easy to use and working but eating through batteries even when left unused
I use it very rarely but have had to replace the batterries too frequnelty IMO. They should last at least a year or two (like on my bike's leds). I probably used it 3 times in a year have already replaced the batteires twice.

Looks great and does the job
The fact that this is magnetic is just great. I have it stuck to the extractor fan and use it very often. You set the time by turning the plastic ring around the timer which goes up in 10 second increments up to 99 minutes. The magnet is also strong enough that when turning the dial, you wont rotate the entire thing and it will stay stuck to whatever metal surface its on. Once you have set a time, you need to start it counting down almost immediately otherwise it will reset to zero after a few seconds

Very quiet vs our old cheap timer
Stylish but really quiet ring when the timer finishes. Be aware. Old cheap ones are much noisier but this one does look nice and operates well. No auto off though which is a bit silly - you have to hold down the off button for 4 seconds.
