This is my second purchase of petrobond casting sand and it's a great casting medium. I use it for low temperature casting using zinc alloys and I get very detailed results. I only regret not buying the more economical larger amount initially but I was uncertain about how it would perform and didn't want to commit to a larger amount. But I am convinced that petrobond is the correct casting medium for my needs. It's easy to use and a really good value when compared to other casting sand with similar properties. It has really held up well to repeated castings and I only had to purchase more when I did was to accommodate larger castings.

Works great for my first attempt at casting aluminum. I'm casting small engine crankcases.

Great product holds ups well and captures the detail of the pattern very well. The strength of the sand after about 30 castings starts to deplete, but I add some 2 cycle oil and mix it. It helps get a little more life out of the sand before I purchase more.

When the box was delivered, the bag inside was ripped. I opened the box and quite a bit of sand had already escaped the bag. The petrobond itself is not great quality. It's pretty much a "one time use" sand. I've reused green sand multiple times. This stuff...nope.

Sand works great but I will say to learn what you are doing first. Im having issues with the clay falling into the mold but that is a me issue not packing the sand enough. Expensive for sand but when it is used right it is a good quality casting.

This was my second purchase from these folks and they've always done right by me. The weight is always spot on and shipping was fast. This brand works better than other brands I've tried and way way better than homemade green sand. If you need high detail in your castings then this is where it's at. Works very well for all metals . It packs down rock hard with little effort and hold it's shape very well while still allowing gasses from metals, foam, wax and PLA vapors to escape. Greensand just doesn't perform near as well. I just sieved this 10lb batch in with my previous 10lbs I bought over a year ago. After about 50 uses I add 10 drops per 10lbs of any weight motor oil, mineral oil, hydraulic fluid or baby oil to rejuvenate it. All casting sands are a Little pricey in my opinion, but you get what you pay for and I'm extremely happy with this brand and so are customers. I will never switch back to any other kind and I will be buying more as needed. Thanks again!
